You need to post the serial # to see when and where it was made, I'm kind of new to strats but it may be MIM strat.

cool sorry for the lack of info guys.

the serial number on the head is C 036187
there is no "made in" decal and the truss rod is the screw type at the pickups no adjustment at headstock.

i don't know but doubt the body and the neck are from the same guitar, is there any way of telling?

the pick ups are wierd, there is a black jackson humbucker
the middle pickup i think is origional
the top pickup is a jackson also.
all the little metal coils on the pickups are staggered in hieght, is this normal?

thanks for any input and for taking the time.

Hi camerilo: well, you're links sure don't lead to enlargements of the guitar pictures. Not sure that belongs on this "family friendly" website - but an insight into why you haven't had time to play that guitar much.

Sounds like you know as much as we'll be able to tell on the modded pickups. The serial number says your guitar was made in the Fullerton plant pre-CBS. Which is surprising...

Staggered poles on the pickups is fine, BTW. Looks like a very narrow neck at the nut, too.

Cheers - C

Yes, I tried to warn about that without making it too explicit. There's folks amongst us get very sensitive about that sort of thing.

However, camerilo has posted a new link, so let's forget about it and get back to the guitar.

I'm quietly wondering about the result the Guitar Dater Project returned on the serial number. Can this really be a '50s or '60s guitar, underneath the mods?

Cheers - C

It warrants further investigation. The serial no' is in the wrong place for pre-cbs. C+6digits is japanese 85/86 according to fender, which would match the tuners and headstock coding.

Pop the neck off and look for a ST stamp on the heel.

deleting the dodgy links now sorry for any offence caused, was the first upload site came to mind!

yeah, c im also wondering about the age, was an old guy i baught it off and he wasn't really wanting to part with it, was a favour to an old gf of mine who works for him, he had leant it to me to try and i fell in love with it
and after months of her pestering him he let her buy it for me for a christmas present.

still that seems really old would be a dream if it is that old! thanks to one and all

One very positive point....if Ceri is correct about the neck, the neck alone is probably worth much mcuh more than you paid for the entire guitar.

Ah, I hasten to point out, that was the result The Guitar Dater Project returned. Seems rather unlikely to me - not the first time I've been surprised by what that website turns up:

http://www.guitardaterproject.org/

To me, this one sounds much more probable:

yeah 85/86 japan is more probable, theres no way someone would part with a guitar that old is there?
she even looks like she came out of the 80's!
the value is'nt to important i guess it's my guitar, theres not many like it,
and this one is mine, gonna enjoy playing again!

im a bit scared to "pop the neck off"!
will it just unscrew and screw back on without any problems?
if it's not gonna cause any problems i'll do it.

God I love this super sleuth stuff. A real mystery guitar!

Lets spread a rumor that it might be a 63 Fullerton neck....the long lost neck....last of its kind....

Then we can sell it on Ebay.

any time, any place the super sleuths are on the case!

hahaha if it were worth alot of money then i guess i would consider selling it to a good home!
