I'm in the process of getting my house re-roofed and pessimist that I am, I over-estimated how much the job would cost. Hmmm, I have money left over... what should I do with it? I could use it to pay my income and property taxes. I also have insurance premiums due on the house and two cars in March. Nah, too boring. How about the President's Day Sale at Guitar Center? Oh yeah.

I brought home a 2008 Olympic White American Standard Stratocaster and also ended up trading in my Hot Rod Deluxe for a nicely discounted '65 Twin Reverb Custom 15 amp. Talk about clean tone heaven.

I hope you didn't buy MY Olympic White American Std. w/ maple neck! :?

I've been playing one just about every weekend when my son (ilovefender!) wants to go to Guitar Center.

I can tell I'm addicted to Fender because I notice Fender guitars and amps in movies and TV shows that I never knew about before!

Sweet! Don't worry about the taxes, we'll all get bailed out anyway. :D
I bet they didn't trade even up for the HRdlx. :D

All kidding aside. Best of luck with it.

Nice purchase and a great use of the extra cash! No reason to invest it right now, and we all know that Uncle Sam's gonna come for any of your extra pretty soon.

I'm not just a Fender addict, I am a white Strat addict!!
First 'real' guitar - '73 Strat, White Blonde hardtail with maple neck.
Newest guitar - '08 American Standard, white with maple neck, just like the picture.
The Am. Std. is my 10th white Strat! I've had a few in other colors, but white just floors me every time.
I've been an addict from day one, and I don't want to be cured!!

Congradulations on a wise choice.
The fact that you bought a guitar with left over money is good. Money is money and loses value, but a guitar, especially a white strat (my favorite) will only appreciate in value and will last forever. How can you get a better deal than that???
Plus you traded the hot rod deluxe which is poorly made and designed, for a vintage amp that was designed and made correctly. Just make sure you dont need to change the capacitors since they do degrade with age, but that is an easy job.

I have a hot rod deluxe and it is not very good. They put crap resistors in the plate circuit that, after a while either change value or get bad, and then you get a $@!&#* distorted sound even when playing clean, which pisses me off. I also have a Twin which is great and always sounds nice and I can fix it when I have to. Usually all I have to do is put in new tubes every once in a while.

Sounds like you are a smart investor.

Sweet Guitar and Amp!

I've never tried the 15" Twins, but I have four of the 2x12" Twins from the early Silverface era, three Strats, and a Tele dlx.

hmmmm....I winder if I'm addicted to Fender?

Nice gear, but I hope you still have a house to play it in after not paying your property tax and insurance.

I bought an identical 08 olympic white/ maple neck fender strat two weeks ago. I thought that I had the only one? :(
I went for the DeVille 212, but was looking at the Deluxe Reverb as well. You have good taste, friend.
