HowdyHeyHiHo

Sorry to bore you guys with this - but I hope you can help me. I prefer vintage style tuners to the modern ones on my '08 AmStd Strat, and I want to know if I can take off the moderns and replace with the vintage without leaving horrible screw holes in the back of my neck.

Any help would be really appreciated, hope you're all good!

I don't think those modern fender tuners have holes do they? You should take them off and check.

it's better you use further the modern ones. there are some diameter differences between modern and vintage string axles. the boring for modern ones is bigger.
it's easier to update a vintage style guitar with modern tuners as reserve.

cheers :D

Yes. At stewmac.com they have conversion bushings that fit in the holes and will accommodate the smaller shaft size of the vintage tuners. Good choice by the way...i always feel the much lighter weight of vintage tuners give you better dynamics.

here ya go...

I've used the conversion buttons for every Strat I've ever owned. I just like the look and easy use of the Vintage Split Shaft Tuners. I beleive there is one post hole underneath the original tuners when you remove it, but once you put on the vintage style it covers them up.
