Well, as some of you may have already know, I lost out on an Aussie ebay auction on a USA Deluxe strat neck. At the same time, I was hunting for a guitar to replace the Highway 1 USA that was sold. I came across a Frakenstrat, which was made up of a 1962 Japan reissue strat body, a 962 reissue Fender Custom Shop strat neck, Callahan pickguard, and Fralin single coils...

The guitar arrived today. So I was thinking, "Hey, what if I bolt on the custom shop neck on the 60th anniversary USA strat body?". Seeing that I needed a replacement neck for the anniversary guitar, I say why the heck not...

Well, after bolting on the neck, setting the guitar up, and then do a play test, holy hell, the neck is nice and smooth to touch, and the tone is way better with the custom shop neck. Mate, made the 60th anniversary sounded even better, with better sustain, and possibly more harmonic content. God I love the neck... 8)

Now I shall hunt for a neck to bolt on the Japan reissue body instead. Do some of you guys know how much an American Standard/Series neck would cost???

It's surprising what a good neck can do for overall tone huh? Congratulations! :)

Yeah, will do so sometime. I do know Fender do not sell their necks as replacement necks, but I was just wondering what the price ranges are for those necks I've listed...

Nice one..! There must be something about Aussie neck auctions -- I lost out on a '66 rosewood neck that I was hoping to try out on my '66 time machine strat (it's maple). I thought maybe there'd be a chance that nobody much was after such a thing in the current economic climate, but it ended up going for a couple of grand AUD -- way, way too much for me, though it seems they can fetch about three times that judging by some US sites. Ah, well. It would've been a shame to take this current neck off, anyway, that's what I'll tell myself. Heh.

I'm glad you ended up with a better instrument for your trouble, though; most satisfying!

Hey mate, nice to hear from a fellow true blue on here. Do you per chance know of any site or forum that might sell used replacement necks? It seems the Aussie ebay hasn't had one for quite some time, bar those 70s necks which are "stupid" expensive for my wallet to bear...

Recently stripped (almost new) American Standard necks are readily available on Ebay for "around" US$300.00, without any hardware like tuners, etc.

If you are savy, you could get a used one for $250.

Hwy 1 American necks were regularly going for $225-$250 but recently have sold for above $300.

American Deluxe necks (like new) regularily sell for $400 without any tuners or hardware. If you are good, you might get one for $350ish.

thats because the highway one list for $1,130 and selling
between $900 to $925 and in my opinion still under priced.

If you're mixing-and-matching anyway, why not just buy a licensed neck?

Allparts start at about $200.

[quote="BigJay"]Well, considering my Kickassocaster is only "part" Hwy1 (neck and pickguard), I can only agree in part.

Big Jay, did you get the "brilliant" part? :)
