I took the pickguard off of my Strat to put a new one on with a bridge Humbucker. I want to leave all the single pickups, pots, switches and the wiring intact on the old pickguard. I don't want to take the pickups off because they where expenses, and i don't want to screw them up.

What would be the best way to store the pickguard assembaly to keep the pickups in good condition?

How was packed your new pickguard: in a plastic bag + carton?
if yes, use this for a dustfree storage in dry and roomtemperated place.
