I was looking at the evh Frankenstein strat but it costs so much! Is there a website where I can get it cheaper? I've looked around and have found them but for $25,000! I don't know if that is the cheapest or not. Tell me if you find a place where they sell them cheaper.

DIY like he did. You may come up with something better. Whatever the pricetag behind the guitar Do It Yourself is the ethos, theres only one way to acheive that. If you did buy a 25k axe i doubt you'd play it if you were a regular guy. Replicating it yourself becomes a better option at that point.

Eddie has lied so much over the years about that guitar of his, but that is because he HATES it if anyone copies anything he does. That's been his pet peeve since day one. This is also why he allowed Fender to copy his guitar in such meticulous detail and had them price it like that. That is the selling price for that guitar right from Fender.
You can look at the Charvel line they offer three versions of EVH's Frankenstrat as it evolved over the years which are much more playable if that's what you want to do with it. But this one...if you are buying it in hopes that it will become a priceless collectible guitar in the future, (perhaps after Eddie's passing), then that's a gamble really. I would'nt tell anyone to buy that as an investment. You just don't know if it will ever be worth that much.

Certainly i'd pay more for a charvel neck a old strat body a knackered floyd and some dimarzio's than i ever would for that guitar.

Its a wreck with a unique paintjob played by someone who could make a shoebox kids toy sound great. It doesnt command £15k+

Waste of money! I buy a guitar because it plays well who cares if it looks like a guitar that was owned by someone else. The signature guitar thing just puzzles me sometimes.

Totaly. I went into guitar playing as a adolescent rebel. I wanted to be me, not someone else.

If someone is going to dump that kind of money on a guitar like that, first of all, I say, they must have more money than brains. Second, if someone is going to dump that kind of money on a guitar like that, why on earth would (s)he want it to someone else's specs in the first place? Lastly, if I were to ever dump that kind of money on a guitar (which I would not), that better be 101% to MY specs with the finest wood, hardware, custom built pickups and electronics known to humanity.

I recommend saving massive quantities of money and simply buying one's self a nice Strat!

The $25k Frankenstrat is really not a guitar. It is beyond that. It is an investment of psuedo rock memoribilia. And as an investment,
how bothered will you be if it significantly de-values to say $10-15k?

- If that would bother you, I'd stay away. There are 300 of these things. Considering these guitars have little "true" provenance with Ed ,
a decrease in value - in my opinion - is likely. Especially considering the steep price and short-term picture of the economy.
- If it would not bother you, then get it. In this case, either you have more money than Roosevelt, and/or you are so smitten by the thing
it does not matter what the perceived market value is.

Either way, I'd respect your decision. Personally, I think the Frankenstrat is pretty cool as a complete disection of one of the most important
guitars that made significant alterations to the guitar-playing landscape. But, like I said, the thing should not be thought of as a mere guitar. Yes, it is more than that...

I don't think i've ever agreed more on anything in my life ! It's a freakin' piece of wood ! theres nothing magic about it, and if you'd never heard of EVH and tried that guitar along with various fenders at anywhere from 1/30th to 1/10th of the cost, chances are probably 99.9% that you'd pick one of the others. Do yourself a huge favor and use the 25k on something more important than some guy's freaky idea of a strat. If it's for collectible reasons, i still doubt it will ever be worth more than $25k.
