I saw one of these today at GC. I hadn't seen one that wasn't an MIA. Are these somewhat rare in the MIM version?

Just curious.

Thanks,
Jim

Not at all.You could walk into a different dealership where you might get the impression that the exact opposite is true. A dealership will order specific model guitars based on his or her good judgement as to what will sell the best.

Just got one a few weeks ago...I love it. Better yet, I only paid $450 for it...right before the price increase. :D

Yes, there is definitely "some level" of rarity to your guitar. While I am sure it is far from being anything even close to the only one, MIM HSS's are not offered with Sienna Sunburst. So it will likley be built in much fewer numbers than standard colors. Although, there is always the possibility that the color has been added to the production scheme, and the web site has not yet reflected it.

Also, Fender may just be experimenting with new finishes for next year. If that happens, it will kinda kill your rarity factor that would have gotten you a few extra bucks if you sold it down the line.

Get a hardshell case for it, for sure. Also, can you pos a pic of it?

Not sure if the Sienna burst is rare, but its a sweet alternative to the 3 tone sunburst. They look great. Pix?

Apparently I'm an idiot (or a fool)...my MIM HSS was labeled as "Sienna Sunburst" at GC but after looking at a few others online, I clearly have the common sunburst.

They did have a MIM SSS in sienna sunburst in the same location...but I wanted the kick of the humbucker. Oh well...

Hey colt,

Yours looks just like mine and I just verified with Fender that it is indeed the Sienna Sunburst. I have asked them to verify whether the body is ash or alder. It sure seems to be ash, but I am waiting for them to verify.

+1. Sienna Sunburst isn't a color you see very often. Great finish on these.

I just received another e-mail from Fender that the body is alder, not ash as I had hoped (oh well).
