Hey guys my band is a power trio we are just starting out

I am a pretty skilled guitarist who can play alot of stuff
Our drummer is pretty good
And our basist is just starting out playing

But the thing is no one can sing/write lyrics worth 2 cent so what are some pretty easy fun instrumental songs you can play without a keyboardist

We like LZ Hendrix Cream SRV Floyd The Dead and Sabbath mostly

Thanks for the help guys

Not to your tastes but i'd look to dick dale. Imagine having a tight bass player doubling the guitar parts on miserlou or pipeline. Couple it with a good amount of gain and dave lombardo on drums and you've got death surf metal. Not the best idea i know but i reckon it would be fun to try.

For old school rock, try "Steppin Out" by Cream.
+1 on the surf instrumentals. For a slightly modern version of the surf instrumental, check out The Mermen's "Glorious, Lethal Euphoria".
Also, check out Deconstruction. It was 1/2 of Jane's Addiction (w/o Perry Farrel), and they didn't have a singer, really, but had a great album of primarily instrumentals. Also check out The #$@*&!% Champs' latest release "VI" - basically metal w/o vocals.

For instrumental music, I find myself listening to Joe Satriani a lot. :D

I can't say how well he'd fit into your interests, but he has plenty of songs to check out if you haven't already. And if you haven't, I guess I could always give recommendations. :)

Try doing SRV's Little Wing. Very simple rhythm section- and as you get better you can fill it out more and more.

You could try taking a song with lyrics, and change the song around a little so that it ends up an instrumental. Like SRV did with Little Wing.

Check out "Espionage" by Green Day. It's a simple instrumental spy/surf style track, only a few minutes and easy to play. Plus it sounds awesome the more experiemental you get with it.

What you could do is have have the bass and drums play the rhythm while the guitar does the singing part and the solo. If you want suggestions though, try Lenny, Little Wing, Europa, Moby Dick, etc. Or anything by instrumental guitar players.
