I just bought a 88 MIA Strat. I took off the neck. I put it back on and now I'm trying to restring with hybrid slinkys. Something's not right. I can't get the strings to tune. They just buzz. And Buzz BAD! It's almost like the neck is to high and the heel. It does have the micro tilt. I thought it was just the strings were not putting enough tension on the neck but I don't want to break any strings.


Anybody know what's going on?

Why yes, you didn't screw the neck back in all the way.

In addition to ensureing the screws are tight,any time you do something major like that will require re-intonation. Here are some general guidlines provided by Fender, of course there may be slight variances on specs based on your specific guitar:
