Hey all, i have been looking for the neck below for a long time, ebay doesnt have one, so i was curious if anyone would know were i can pick up just the neck. Im building my strat and Fender doesnt sell just the neck, and I dont really want to go with Warmoth because you can't lay the logo on there necks. THanks all

Welcome!

You are looking for a 70s type neck. Check out e-Bay. There are people there who make a living out of disemboweling new Strats, etc. and selling off the parts. Be careful though as to whether it is a 3 bolt or a 4 bolt neck.

appreciate the welcome. I have looked on ebay and found the neck i want however he wants over 900 for it lol. Im military i dont make that kind of money lol. I really want the neck that has the trust rod at the heal and not into the head stock however if i cant find one i can settle for the trust rod in the stock. I am currently refinishing a neck i have but now i have to drive two hours to have Fender put a new decal on it lol.

$900? Wow! I'm sure he'll get it though.

Either way, good luck with your endeavor.

yea lol to rich for my blood. Actually i was wondering if you knew a good method of taking Paint off of a strat body back to the wood. My body from my delonge strat needs to be refinished and i was curious on the best way to get it clean, especially in the pockets were the pickups go.

The DeLonge has the polyester finish if I remember correctly. It is a horror trying to get that stuff totally off even in the flat places! If it were me, in the pockets, I'd probably try a Dremel with varied sanding drum attachments.

ok, i was going to lay some paint stripper on there as well and try and get as much off of the big areas first and then work the inner pockets after i get the top surface back to the grain. How long should i let the stripper sit before the paint will start to come off. i have already sanded to were some wood is showing but its taking to long lol

As I implied, if it is polyester, you can leave the stripper on for a month and it still won't get the polyester to come off. Tedious sanding is the only solution.

You should be able to get a MIJ ST68-85TX/3TS 1968 Reissue model used for much less than $900. It's got the neck you want:

Then you can sell the other parts to get some $$$ back. Or save them for another project!

Or discover that you like that Japanese Strat and decide to keep the whole thing - and start looking for another neck for the first guitar...
