pick up volumes

Hi guys, I'm new here so sorry if this has been asked before! I've been playing the acoustic guitar for 30 odd years and have just acquired my first electric, a highway 1 HSS which I'm loving. It's a bit like learning a completely new instrument though! My question is, the volume from the humbucker is nearly twice that of the single coils - is this normal? Obviously, I'm not touching the volume control when I switch over but I feel like maybe I need to! I'm still playing my baby in and getting used to it, fab guitar!
