A good Marshall is the only way to go for the tones you want.

I probably should have mentioned this. I'm looking for an all tube amp that is under $1500. The reason I kind of stray from Marshall is because I'm not really infatuated with their clean sounds. I want shimmery cleans with a British distortion. I also don't need something that's really high gain or high wattage. 50 watts around.

Thats why you need a 59plexi or jtm45. Their very different amps to marshalls current offerings. A 1959 is about the cheapest option youve got for getting a base for early blackmore, gilmour, clapton, hendrix and a load of the other names you mentioned.

Is this what you're talking about?

I would love to go to a place that has all sorts of different amplifiers, but all I got as far as a local music store is guitar center. Maybe I'll go to a NAMM show since I live in Southern California. I'm sure they have everything there.

Do what you must to try one. I can see by the repeated enquiries into amps that your following the same idea that i gave to another forum user of being patient. Trust me on this, there is no experience on this planet like playing through a early design marshall. Even the so called bad reissues of the 80's/early 90's are a magical experience. Until you feel the punch of a clean plexi its hard to describe. Ever wonder why such a basic amp is so popular, its why they are the amp boutique builders copy. Your going to need a certain amount of effects with whatever amp you go with. Your choices of heroes are very far apart in tone. A basic but classic marshall is the ideal platform for that.
I understand your dilema of them being hard to find too. In blighty we experience the same with all kinds of high end guitar manufacturers. Certain Fender and gibson included, i expect round your way there on every corner.

All the best blaqdog they do turn up occasionaly.

Because of the versatility he's looking for, I'm surprised no one suggested the new Band-Master VM head and cab ...
