Hello good people,

I'm the new guy around here.

I'm planning on getting a Vintage Hot Rod '62 Stratocaster cause I was looking for a vintage guitar that could handle some gain.

Unfortunatly I can't test them cause they are not available near me and I have to order online.

So I was wondering if any of you's tested them and can tell me something about those axes? I'd also love to know how they compare to those all original American Vintage '62's

MrBill has one and reckons its a dream. I believe him, i have the 57hotrod and its divine. I wouldnt buy without playing though. You simply may not like it. Theres a lot of variation at that price level. Also i'd argue that the 57hotrod or a deluxe strat has more scope to handle gain.

Hey,

thanks for the reply.

Well, that sounds good. Fortunatly the shop im planning to buy at is offering a 30 day trail period, so I guess I'm on the save side here.

But I'd really like to know how they compare to those American Vintage '62's

I played them both and preferred the regular American Vintage simply because I like small frets (and you can't get hot rods in black).

They are both fantastic guitars, the hot rod is a little more versatile and the satin neck feels great.

I have one, a sunburst, it's one of my favorite Strats
it has a very thick neck and some good size frets for big BGBs (Buddy Guy Bends), satin neck plays easy. Tone controls are set up like an EJ strat, so if you don't like the neck you might want to check out an EJ, they should be about the same price range.

Hello Lliaz,

Sure enough My '62 hot rod
is my #1 guitar and that chunky
neck is what my hands need.
But I must caution you, there are those
who cannot deal with this volume of lumber.
So play one if you can.
I gotta agree with Nikininja I'd bet
the '57 hotrod would handle gain better.

Cheers.
