Hi cvilleira: can't speak to the source and precise species of the ash, but as the name suggests it certainly is light! My Tele weighs just over seven pounds - not bad.

Hi all,

Anyone know anyting about these? I tried searching but cant really find any info except what Fender has on this page:

http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0265002521

There is a local guy selling one and it looks great. Anyone have one?

Thanks,
Keith

you wont find the strat anymore. but the tele is
still available. i'm very happy to have one its a
fantastic strat. great tone/sustain/feel. look around
you may find one but its rare because the ones who
have the strat are keeping them there not giving them
up.

heres another one thats going up and this
one the Fender MIK special edition lite ash strat. this strat
deserves a price hike. the cratmanship/quality of
this guitar is simply awsome i would match this
strat to the MIA'S any day and any time. some sites
have called this strat one of the best prodution strats
ever made. dont take my word for it. musucians friend/
american musical supply/sweetwater music/harmony central and
electric guitar. the reviews on the fender MIK special edition
lite ash strat are fantastic! it list for $900 and i paid $645 dollars 2 years
ago with no case. this strat deserves a price hike its always been under priced.

I really think the lite ash would have been more successful as a 70's re-issue: CBS headstock, 3 scew neck plate, shoddy fret work

I really don't see it as an attractive guitar, yellowed ash doesnt have much appeal to me.

I saw one hanging on the wall at a shop where my sister lives.

This is a review based only on 1 single guitar, so take that for what it's worth.

I probably should have bought it. but the finish work on the neck was definitely not up to snuff with its more expensive cousins.

That said it felt and played beautifully. Alwaystrat will now attack my post, but I stand by it. I made the comparisons based on what I have seen posted.

now don't get me wrong there was nothing 'wrong' with the guitar. but there was less attention to detail. I really really liked the shape of the neck. it felt like it would play fast too. The differences were mostly in the cosmetic arena. You could see tool marks on the sides/back of the neck.
But I consider attention to those details to be a sign of 'craftsmanship'

It had 3 seymore duncans in it, I don't know if that is stock. But they really sang

I will say that it was IMO the single best value on that wall though.

i will not attack your post.
you are going by what you read.
BUT! so am i. i have read hundreds of
reveiws on the sites i have stated and the
majority all agree that the lite ash strat is
a fantastic guitar and yes some have called
it on of the best production strats made.
and yes the seymore duncan alnico pro II
pickups come standard with the strat.

I meant I made a point to look at that stuff because of the reviews.

this was a hands on. I will say it is a fantastic guitar, but a to call it one of the 'best' production guitars is a bit of an exaggeration.

I would tell anyone who finds one and is in the sub-$1000 price range to buy it. A-strat and I will both agree, it absolutely blows away any other guitar in its price range. Damn, now I am thinking of sending my sister some cash to go buy it for me. I won't be back that way for a year or so, (she and her family visit me in the summer,) no chance it will still be there. i haven't seen any here for a few months.

I would gig with it. I guess what more do you say.

Hello KK5fe,

I visit a number of music stores
with some regularity and I haven't
seen one since Christmas.
Great looking and playing axe,
I'll regret not getting one when they
become totally unavailable.
Best of luck with yours, post a photo
we'll all enjoy it, vicariously.

Cheers.

I was at The Perfect Guitar store today just looking around. An older man came in and picked up several guitars including Ibanez, Music Man and some others. When asked if he wanted to play one he hesitated and finally picked up a MIK lite ash ,played one or two notes and then bought it. He seemed like he was embarrassed because he could not play. He held it in his hands awhile and said wrap it up I'll take it. It is a nice looking axe. The store had several of them. Just a short story for you Lite Ash guys.
Like a dummy I didn't look at the price as I was picking up another pedal. A Russian Big Muff. I already have the American one.

There was one available on Craigslist in Nashville a few days ago. I don't know if it is still there.

Fortunately, I am not GASSing at the moment...

I have one and love it. Minor tuning issues. Sound is great, I put a voodoo 57 humbucker in it, 5 springs on the tremolo, raised the action, strung it with 11-48s and it now plays the metal! I love the big frets on it. My neck is a healthy C-shape and it is actually a little small for me for some moods/riffs.

I bought one of these back in early 2010 on a trip over to the US from Australia. $650 US was an absolute bargain. You get a finish that is easily comparable to a MIA Deluxe Strat. Who cares if it's made in Korea. Like most of the posts on here I wouldn't part with it as they are as rare as rocking horse poo now.
