I've had both, but IMO the Vox is the better of the two, much better - it has a more pleasing sweep range, and is THE definitive wah sound, especially if you're playing through a Strat.

I've tried quite a few Crybaby's from the original, to the 535 (i think? it has multiple settings) the Hendrix wah and the Dimebag wah. While I love Dunlops MXR range (truly, these are epic pedals), I don't rate Crybaby's anything more than an average-to-good pedal, even the signature versions. They're a beginners pedal IMO, and they win popularity by having a shelf spot in most music stores, unlike the Vox. But if you're a pro player or dedicated guitarist, the Vox is definitely 'the wah' you're after. I back this claim up as a producer and as a hardcore musician of 20 years gigging experience.

I'm noticing there's not a lot of A/B comparisons here, hopefully this will offer a bit of food for thought.

thousands of pro players beginners.

Ravenhaller i dont see how crybaby's are a beginner wah when that was the origianal rockerpedal design. Jennings designed the first circuit for vox granted (its what you can hear on hendrix love or confusion). Todays wah's are very different much tamed things compared to their original counterparts.
Mid sweep shifts are nothing but gimmicks, wahs are the easiest pedals in the world to shape to your requirements through modding.

This is pretty funny. It's a wah pedal. How often do you use them? I have two. A Crybaby Classic and an old original Fender Fuzz Wah.

A beginner pedal? Crybaby's have been around for 40 years. That's funny. Some are a little more vocal than others. I've been using them since their inception before classic rock was classic rock. Our band covered a lot of Zappa, Cream and Hendrix. I use it more as a tone control than the wacka, wacka, wacka thing that I hear all the time. They were all pretty noisy and would eventually break if you put your full weight on them.

Everybody gets brainwashed by the hype. I find this really amusing. Do you really think Hendrix used a Hendrix Wah? He went to Manny's and bought a zillion wahs because he broke them all the time.

I used to and still do tweak the sweep range by loosening the the rack guide and turning the pot to taste. It can smooth out the effect nicely. My Fender Fuzz Wah IS the classic rock sound. The fuzz is in you face and the wah has a nice range. Way back it was all about the effects and nobody stressed about tone sucking. That's what tone controls are for. If you want to pay inflated prices for Fasel Inductors, true bypass go ahead. Most guys I knew would preferred buffered pedal boards to true bypass anyway.
