I really like the Strat I have, but the fingerboard has this really light brown colour that I am not particularly fond of.

Is there a way to darken the colour, without damaging the feel or structural integrity of the wood?

Stew Mac has this:

But any good-quality wood stain would work fine, I'd think, as long as you let it dry completely.

I'm sure there are several types of wood dyes/stains that would work.

Personally I would just leave it. You never know what will change with the color.

Hi tremolo arm: yes, like Chet I'd just leave it. I think those very pale brown fingerboards are rather nice.

But if you must darken it Slap Chop's Stew-Mac product is the recommended tool for the job. Be sure to keep that stuff of the rest of the timber: the lacquer might repel it - or it might not.

Cheers - C
