Theres nothing wrong with the HWY One and value is subjective to each person. But the HWY is nothing like a SRV or Hendrix sounding guitar to me as stock . And to me it plays nothing like either one of them and for some reason the frets feel so big its horrible. Now I will admit when I was looking to buy one I tried like five of them and did not like the feel of any and have one played around with them once or twice since. I will say the pickups are wound up and drive an amp for that metal sound for sure. Now I am going to duck for cover because I no there are some passionate people on the HWY because they do own them.

Yeah, I know but if you look at the .pdf on this site for prices it say $1,130.00. I know they don't sell them at guitar center for that price but you know what i'm saying.
OK so you talking Fender Sugested Retail. I dont look at that to often, no one pays that price because it just a sound good number so places and say this so much of sugested retail price. Sadly 899. is to much for that guitar as well. I prefer the Classic series at that price or even the Aerodyne for 20 more. The HWY ONE is a good guitar but I am just not a fan of it. To me it is just a striped down guitar that sells because it says Made In American now I will hear the raft of evil for saying that but am not saying its bad just not My cup of tea for that cost. I am now ducking for cover!

the new price for the highway one sss are now going between $899.99 to $925.00.
its not to much for that brilliant strat. the american standard
is over priced not the high way one.
the highway one is worth every penny and more.
cant say that about the american standard.

I purchased a USA fender strat standard at GC Lincoln (new in box) just before feb 1st for $835 including tax. You can get better deals if you shop around. Dietz music downtown wouldnt go below $999 before the increase.
American Standard is NOT over-priced. This is the best 835 I have ever spent. Compared to what I spent on my Les Paul Standard (I dont even want to confess that number), the USA stand strat is a HELL of a deal.

I just picked up a American Deluxe HSS and it is fantastic. I personally dig the HSS and huge variety of different tones it gives with the S-1 switching.
Love the locking tuners and the roller nut. Playing it through a Bassman is like a sound orgasm.

That is a nice guitar you got there. It is the more veratile HSS with that S-1 switch giving you so many more pickup combinations. Enjoy that thing

Thanks guys. Yeah, I bought one 'scratch and dent'...it had a scratch I could live with, but the neck was not set right. slight gap between left edge of neck and body...that I could NOT live with. I loved the sound so much I bought a brand new one! Sent the other back. Paid less for the new one than the scratch n dent! go figure.

Got the Amber finish. Beautiful.

Yeah, I got real lucky...the new one is flawless. With the Amber finish you can see the grain...this one has really great patterns on it. But the sound and playability are just fantastic.

dude we understand you dont like the highway one.
but the bottom line is that they will cost $900 and more
and thats the way its going to be wether you like it or not.
second the highway one is worth every penny and more.
and its one of the more popalar strats out there today.
just as and maybe even more popalar than that overrated american standard. bottom line you not going to change anyones mind about the highway one cv, its a great strat very tone versatile. and i do like the highway one much better than the american standard. i also can ashure you i'm not the only one eaither.

Come on "Alwaysstrat" I am not saying its a bad guitar and just because I did not like it I am not trying to talk others out of liking it. "Dude" we all no you dont like the American Standard you tell us on ever other post and You are not going to change anybodys mind. Also I have not even mention the Amer. Stand. in this posting I have been saying I would like the Classic series over the HWY One because I prefer that one for the price. Thats me if you think different thats O.K. I understand the mentality of some to want to think theres is the best over every one elses. No harm done with that. Face it there are more versatile guitars then the HWY One and I am sure your are going to come back with "its better then the Amer. Standard." so I said it for you. And the next time you are in the Guitar shop just ask which Fender is sold more you will be suprised Classic Series or HWY One I have been told by the shop I do work for and seen it on paper. I also have seen a post by someone else on here who has said the samething back a few months ago.
I will say your response Alwaysstrat and save you the trouble" the hwy one is a brillant and quality made guitar that is much better then the american standard, it is the most versatile fender there is. also the korean ash guitar is as good as any american made guitar in quality and sound and i would put it up against any of them.
There you go Alwaystrat

Face it we are not all going to agree on everything. The difference is how we as Adults handle it.

OK 10-4!

I love my Highway 1 Stratocaster. With that being said I do not think that you should have to duck when you state your opinion. The Highway 1 series is not for everyone.

If I could afford a CS built to my specs, believe your sweet patootie I'd have one. I am not a big fan of the MIM Stratocasters, not because of where they are made, but because I played a lot of them in the stores and they just did not have the feel and sound I was after (now I duck my head). I do like the American Standard and American Deluxe models, I just did not have the money for it at the time. (I went into the store with $440 and a P.O.S. BC Rich Warlock). My final sale price I payed for my Highway 1 was $440 and that BC Rich. My total sales price on the ticket says I would have payed $670. And now GS, MF, and SA want to sell them for over $800. I think I made out like a bandit (and I have one heck-of-a cool guitar shop I will alway do repeat business with). RK
