I have a friend that owns a 25th Anniversary strat and he was asking about the original finish of the guitars....I knew the story of the change in colors and the problems with the original finishes, but was still unable to answer one of his questions. Can anyone help? The question is if there is a list of the original white finishes still floating around on the market and/or how many of the original 500 are still white (crackled or not) along with Serial Numbers if available? Can anyone help out....he has an original white, but it would be interesting to know how many of the original whites are still around vs. the re-finished Porsche Silvers. Thanks in advance.

Triskele - thanx for the article. I was able to find that site prior to posting and checked all of the information. Great article and thorough info about the guitar....I've crawled through the web to attempt to collect as much data as possible on the model (to include my logging serial numbers / colors found on the guitars ; I'm kind of a statistics junkie). Anyway, needless to say, I'm finding very few white guitars vs. the silver (which is expected). I was just curious if it has ever been determined how many white ones were not sent back for re-finishing in the silver out of the first 500. Thanks for the help and post, though.

I was at House of Guitars on Monday, and noticed that they have a 25th anniversary model, but it's marked at 16 of 25, so it may be a different series.

It was some sort of white, faded over the past three decades.

Thanks pohatu771....I'll add it to the list. The white ones look like they fade to a brownish color over the years....you didn't by any chance notice if the white finish was crackling or not did you? Thanks for the recon.
