Hi. I just recently had a new nut and string trees (graphtek) put on my new MIM strat. My problem is, when I use my tremelo it doesn't go back into tune. I have 10's on and tried 3 and 4 springs. Can someone please give any advice? Thanks!!

I have tried to follow the setup procedures for the tremelo but never could figure it out. It goes out of tune as soon as it's used.

Sounds like the nut grooves are to small for the strings. Don't know how to fix that though. Best of luck.

Welcome to the Forum.

Did you have a complete setup done after the work was done?

Yes, I took it to my local luthier to have it done.

Take it back and have it checked again. Make sure he checks out the nut.

the strings slide over the nut quite well with no binding. I checked when I replaced the strings.

Did you change string gauge?

Still sounds like a setup issue to me.

Did you have this problem before the nut was changed?

Although string binding in the nut is the major cause of tuning problems while using a trem the tuners could be an issue also. If you feel confident that the guy working on your guitar set it up properly consider a good set of tuners. Sperzels have worked good for me. I had very good luck on a former guitar with graphite nut / string trees and Sperzel tuners. New strings / poor quality strings could be to blame also. Try pulling on each string just enough to stretch it out and then retune.
Good luck, sometimes it just takes some time and patience to get it right.

I would guess it is either the bridge not setup well or the tuners ......
