Hello all!
My first day on fender...
Can anyone refresh my aging memory? I own a Strat ser. # L55043. I can't remember if I purchased it in 1964 or 1965. Any one know when this ser. #ed Strat was made????
Thanks in advance for the info.

Welcome to the Forum!

Your guitar was made at the
Fullerton Plant (Fender - Pre CBS Era), USA
in the Year(s): 1965

How about posting pics?

Yes, and that one could be on the borderline. It could either have the old spaghetti style logo on the headstock, or have moved to the newer style Fender logo. There were 65's both ways.

I'LL have my daughter take some pics. with her digital camera and try to post them. I'm an old guy stuck in more ancient tech. I like my 55 chevy because it only has one fan-belt, two radiator hoses and two heater hoses. Not much to figure out when it needs to be fixed. I like my STRAT for the same reason, never needed to fix it. Now, the amps- thats another story!!!

The logo must be the newer style- double lines not single line for FENDER lettering.

I agree wholeheartedly with Always. That '65 C shaped neck is one of my all time favorites! And isn't it funny too, that those guitars hardly ever had to be fixed? Wonderful piece you have there!

The 65's could be either small head stock or large, most are small though. And the logos look the same on 65's but the large head stocks will have one or two more Patent numbers on them I think. The spaghetti's I think were transition out in 64'

Haven't you ever peeked at the neck date or the pot codes or the pickup dates?
