Hey fellow forum surfers…I was wondering if any of you have The Buzz Feiten Tuning System installed on any of your guitars?.....If so how well does it solve tuning and intonation problems as advertised…does it really work? What is the cost, and is it worth the money you spent on it?.......for years I have heard industry buzz about this system (MOD..) and all it can, and will do, to give you prefect intonation….what I have not heard, is any firsthand accounts on the system from other Guitar players…….any comments, stories, or accounts would be greatly appreciated….thanks

I never tried the BF system but i do use earvana. The BF system has the downfall of just moving the nut breakoff point closer to the bridge end. Whilst this does sort alot of the problems with the D,G&B strings and partialy sweetens them to the E,A&E strings its not wholly accurate. Last i heard was that its a permanent mod but i think thats changed now and the just install a shelf nut. However you cant tune the guitar as you would normaly to the 5th or 4th fret of the string above and some tuners dont work with it. Korg and peterson are said to be the recommended ones for the BF system.
I looked at both and decided the earvana was better, since i put it in ive never looked back.

I have never tried it but I remember a long time ago I was about to purchase a washburn guitar that was in offer at a really nice price which had it installed from factory .... I read good reviews and also learned that all american washburn guitars come stock with it ...... I am sure it is good but never tried it I actually want to try that or the earvana nut just to see if they are as good as I have heard :)

From what I've seen on their own website, the BF system is more invasive than what they claim, but if a guitar came with it stock--I'd try it out. Earvana looks less invasive.

But I'm fine with neither. Then again guitar's more a hobby than a career for me. If it was my bread & butter--I'd look more closely at both.

What puts me off the Buzz Feiten system is that apparently techs have to go on an intensive course to learn how to install and set it up. It involves saddle adjustments as well as the nut, and apparently some other stuff (see the website). Maybe they are making a bigger deal over it than necessary, but I've always had the sensation that once installed I wouldn't be able to service my own guitar, such as installing a new nut.

The Earvana is entirely user fittable, so I presume that is the way I will go - whenever I finally pluck up the courage!

Cheers - C

I did a lot of research on both products. I came away with the notion that if the guitar at large did just fine for all these centuries without either and mine did just fine for the last 40 something years without either, irrespective of how effective either may or may not be, both are superfluous.
