Hello Stratohawk,

You don't see many Photo-Flames
around these parts anymore and
that one, is by far, a real beauty.

What a neck, WOW.

Keep it in nice shape and you'll
see that value rise those finishes
are pretty delicate.

Best of luck with it.

Cheers.

i got a "foto flame" 62 ri too. Mine is around ´95/96 in Natural. I´m sorry to say, but the neck is foto too. you can see the "Hambugular" face in the back of the neck. it´s a common thing in the models. You can see the one piece maple thru the "film". beside that those models are just amazing.
here is a page with full details about this model: www.xhefriguitars.com/page7.html

The foto flames look so cool. In a way its a shame you don't see more of them. Back when I bought my strat I very nearly got one just like that but instead decided on something a bit more conventional but I still LOVE the look of these. Now imagine a pearloid scratchplate...

not all foto flames had foto necks from my research the ones with foto flame necks all have hamburgler on them and no foto flame on the back of the body they also say foto flame on the back of the head stock from what i have read these one are the us market ones the other foto flames like mine have flame on both sides of the body and normal necks with the exception of very few that have true flame maple necks like mine my little brother has as red foto flame just like mine with a normal neck and they dont say foto flame on the back of the head stock these are suppose to be japan market ones though i think they where offered in the us to in limited quantity here is some more pics of her to help prove that it is a true flame maple neck not a foto flame notice where it washes out notice that there is no hamburgler and that it dosnt say foto flame on the head stock

They didn't ALL have the face on the neck. The flame film was pretty big and was a repetitive pattern. Some guitars had the face on the body, but not the neck. Some had on the neck, not the body. Some had both. some didn't have it at all. was just whether the face-like pattern fell onto the area of the roll your laminate was cut from.

Not saying your neck is or isn't really flame maple, but the face isn't a clear indicator. also rumour has it the "Face" was removed from the film after it was noticed. I don't really think it was the hamburgler, but just a face like pattern in whatever they used as the template for the film.

What really isn't debated is the overall high quality of the series. Congrats!

heres a shot of it on a body.

do i love foto flames
drooooooolll.

Didnt the hamburgular guy get the sack with threats of legal action?

Can i have a link to the non-foto-neck evidence plese.

My god do i love foto flames. A pure candidate for the 2059 reissue if ever there was one.

I have yet to see anything actually convincing, to indicate that the 'Hamburgler' thing really happened. Just a myth. all the stories state that the guy worked at the plant, but the 'Foto' film was outsourced. they just used an image with a face like pattern in it, and well, you all know about people and a fun story. Just another 'Pop Rocks and Cola' kind of urban myth.

yea i agree that its more of a face rather than hambrugler but the reason i say its real flame not foto is that the head stock basically has no flame on it and it washes out on the middle of the neck ive never seen and foto flame neck wash out also there is no evidence of film showing where the clear coat is flaking here is a pic of the back of the headstock i have better ill post later.
