Hi Flanker35: wow, that is seriously bad for the eyes! Very Liberace - very Prince.

A nice gold flake paint job, to be sure. Mind you, it's a mighty high price tag for that finish on what is essentially a guitar made from bog-standard aftermarket parts.

Also, am I wrong? I feel I can see a shadow of a Fender logo and Custom Body Contour decal on the headstock in the general photo. The seller is curiously reluctant to include a closeup of the front of the headstock in his otherwise very detailed pictures. I smell a rat...

Also, the one silver spring just ruins it for me. I won't be paying $3500 on that point alone...

Still, I'd love to have a go at that type of finish one day...

Cheers - C

Yeah them not showing a closeup of the headstock made me wonder also. I mean they showed very detailed photos of everything else why not that? I thought I could make out the Fender logo as well. I wonder what's up with that?

I think that

"If Liberace played the Strat"

he'd be Steve Vai.

Hello Flanker35,

Price aside, I am strangely drawn
to this guitar, I doubt I could pull
it off but I can appreciate it.

Cheers

I too smell a rat. but the question is why would he lie?

You know the starting point has to be unbelievably terrible, if you are lying about the parts, but the parts you claim are replacement licensed parts.(all parts stuff is excellent, but the usual lie is to pass off replacement parts as genuine, not the pther way around.)

if it's an assembled partscaster. You can build a pretty darn good partscaster for dirt cheap. so why would you lie and say its only licensed parts rather than actual fender. I smell bottom of the line Korean, or Chinese, here.

I love how it says it was made by a 'qualified luthier' jeez even if what the guy says in the ad is true, it was only assembled, this stuff is designed so laymen can do it. Allparts necks have no headstock branding, yet you can actually read the fender sticker in a couple of the pictures. this tells me that they only did a single coat, (at a bad overlap pattern at that,) of the flake. Then they clear coated, no idea how that looks cus of all the sparkles.

i say they bought the cheapest strat available , used the biggest flake gold-flake spray paint they could find, and clear coated. I might see if I can replicate this disaster with a pawnshop prize, but i would be very surprised if i broke a $500 dollar price tag.
