Awesome is the word to describe my new "OLD" strat. 80's mij strat. Dinged up to the hilt. This looks ROAD WORN! The neck on this guitar is much thinner (like an ibanez) neck. It also appears to be a short scale or maybe it just appears that way. Does anyone know if this is a short scale neck? IT is much thinner and not as wide as other fender guitars.

Thanks,
Jim

We can't see it. You have it. Measure it.

Hi jbbecker12, welcome to the Forum.

Soggycrow kinda has a point. Take a ruler and measure it: the scale length is the distance from the front of the nut to the "breaking point" where the top e string first touches its saddle. MIJ Strats are built to the same dimensions as American ones: that scale length should be 25.5 inches.

Unless it's not a Strat...

Cheers - C

My '86 MIJ Contemporary Strat has a thinner but noticeably wider neck than a 'C', for instance.

Congrats on the MIJ. Had 2 of 'em back in the 90's, and really regret selling them off. Great quality instruments.
