I recently got a MIA strat off the internet and it has a small space under the fretboard where it sits above the pick guard. The very bottom of the neck hovers above the pickgaurd. The gap is probably about 2mm or so. Is this a problem? I have a MIM strat that does not have such a gap.

To clarify, the gap is on the front of the guitar, at the pickgaurd. Everything looks nice and tight on the back where the neck is bolted to the body.

Thanks

Sounds like maybe the pickguard was not cut or put in place right. Show a picture please.

21 fret to 22 fret neck. does it play good?

Ohhh, right. That makes sense explained that way now. Then it's nothing abnormal.

As previously stated its a 22 fret fingerboard on a 21 fret neck. The gap is caused by the overhanging fretboard that Mexican guitars dont have. It all sounds quite normal.

Thanks for the explanation. I will post a pic over the weekend.

It plays great, the neck is so smooth and fast. I went with maple and love it.

Also, the stock pickups sound great, imo.
