I'm just put together a partscaster and had chosen gold for all the hardware. The pickguard and the 5-way selector-switch are attached with gold mounting screws . The pickups I used are Fender SCN's that came from a strat delux with chrome mounting screws. These chrome mounting screws seem to be a different diameter than the standard Fender pickup mounting screws. So the gold pickup mounting screws that came with a gold hardware mounting package I used didn't fit. I was wondering if this large pool of enthusiasts would have any information that would help me in finding the correct diameter gold pickup mounting screws. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip. Stew Mac has single pickup mounting screws that are 6-32 with a .138 in. dia. I took a mounting screw out of my strat and it has a .108 in. dia. Stew Mac has 3-48 humbucker mounting screws that have a .099 in. dia. I ordered a set of the 3-48 screws. My pickups and hardware came from an American Delux loaded pickguard from the Stratosphere Store on Ebay. I hope the hardware is not an odd size. Thanks again for your help.

Yeah, if they don't work, hit up your local hardware store (Home Depot, Lowes). They've got a large selection of gold screws. Good luck!

Pfffft to Gold Hardware, guys! That plated pretender crap doesn't even look good. Gold hardware was the Bigsby vibrato and bridge assembly as well as the PU's on a 1958 or 1959 Gibson ES 355. That was 18 carat gold coated, kiddies, the real deal, and it wore properly and looked it's pedigree.

That Mary Kay stuff never looked right, and as kids nowadays would say.." It's g-a-y " Whatever that means is what it is, I guess. Save your money.

It's your guitar, make it the way you like it and don't worry about the opinions of everyone else. They don't own it, they don't have to play it.

I received the 3-48 gold screws I ordered from Stu Mac. Tried then and they are too small. So its off to the hardware store to find out if the Fender SCN pickup mounting screws are a metric thread.

HarleyHexxe thanks for the vote of confidence on gold hardware. For a while I thought I might have to replace all the gold hardware with chrome harware just to keep posting on this site.

Thanks to all for your help.

No problem Jim, as I said, it's your guitar, make the way you want it. You might want to order hardware through Fender, or if it's easier, All Parts, they have a good selection and in the right sizes.
Here are my Strats that have gold hardware:

To finish up this thread, I went to the parts breakdowns shown on this site and found a 50th anniversay model with the SCN pickups. The gold pickup screws to go with the SCN pickups are a Fender part number 0068037000. They are a 4-40 x 13/16". I ordered them from my local Fender service center along with some other parts. I installed them today and they put the final finishing touch on my partscaster. Thanks to all for your inputs.

Try Warmoth as well...only problem with them is you have to have a $25 min order or they won't ship. But I know they have all the right sizes as I just ordered a whole set up of hardware in black.
