hey this is a great resource and thanks for the help about the output jack nut. now i have a few more questions for you STRAT experts. i have the HSS highway one '07 upgrade and it has the atomic humbucker which is high output..anyone ever swap this out for a Duncan JB ? i thought i might try it but i like the sound and power now and am reluctant to switch unless the benefits are great.
next i usually put GHS Boomers in 9-gauge on my Ibanez RG's and was wondering if you heavy handed guys who are benders and bashers like me have a preference for strat strings on a humbucker equipped axe? it came with 9-super bullets which are shot and i would just throw on the usual GHS set ..but was thinking of Dean Markley Nickel Steel or Blue Steel as well. i like a darker tone but i solo a lot so i need treble/top end bite and squeal with strength to withstand my jeff beck whammy bar abuse.
speaking of which........... any way to adjust the six screw vintage style trem bridge to give me a bit more play and dive bomb capability? the RG's are all floyd rose equipped and the trems are way more responsive........... thanks guys !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I am like you in a way because before strats I only owned original floyd rose equiped guitars....
On the string gauge thing You might like what I use on one of my strats which makes it feel nicer .... I use the three higher strings from a 9's set, and the lower strings I use from a 10's set , that makes the hard riffs really strong and with that punch while leaving the higher 3 strings to bend like heaven whenever you want hehe
on the bridge thing a lot of people first when I got the 6 screw tremolo on my MIM recommended loosen up the middle 4 screws so the bridge would float mainly on the outter two screws so I tried that for a while and it actually felt like it had a wider range for tremolo'ing however I read a lot of articles on guitarrist like for example EVH I read an article which he wrotte which said that when he first got a strat he experimented a hell of a lot with it and in the end he preferred to screw the 6 screws in the body equally because that helped with the sustain , and let me tell you it is true I did that and I know my tremolo doesnt have really wide range for dive bombing but it sounds really nice because it has this tremendous sustain and I actually think it stays in tune better because of the 6 screws supporting the plate... so there you go... also on another strat that I put together (partsocaster) I installed an original american standard tremolo bridge on a MIM 60's body and the american standard bridge is really nice and I noticed you can dive a little more with is really nice.. so there are a lot of options I hope you find that floyd rose kind of feeling you are looking for :)
