I have a set of mex std pickups that I want to put in a Squier...how can I identify which pickup s which?

Someone may correct me here but if they haven't been marked, the only way to tell is by checking them with a multimeter. The neck position should be the weakest and the bridge the strongest (hottest).

That's how I'd work it out.
