I haven't heard any of the Seymour Duncan single coils or Dimarzio Area series but they seem to be mighty popular around here.

Yeah the Dimarzio Area series are great.

I had been running with Area 58 and Area 61 in the bridge which sounds very nice.

I just got an area 67 for the neck to get it a bit more sparkle and really love the 67-58-61 combination. I had to adjust the amp slightly to give it more bass for the neck, and now the middle and bridge sound less harsh but nice and focused.
    It's a very nice combo.

Has anyone heard the Bareknuckle Irish Tour pickups? Do they give a comparable Rory Gallagher sound? I wouldn't mind getting a set, but they're pretty pricey, so I'm looking around for suggestions.

These are nice sounding pickups in there own way but they are all the same . I love to hear the sound of Handwound pickups from places like Klein , Moore and others the make pickups that sound like the old 50' 60's pups that have there little differences between them from the way they are made. Some of these just mind boggle when you hear them thats why I tell people try something different get you own sound try a handwound Pro 50 or something.
