Here's how I passed the time on a rainy, chilly day in the Arizona desert... my naturally road worn 1965 Strat plugged into a '65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue amp. Add a touch of analog delay, a dash of vibrato and the day flew by. Ah. It should rain here more often.

Hmmm, I really ought to clean that room a bit. Nah, it's beer thirty.

Thanks, Synkronized. I wish I could have afforded an original 60's Deluxe Reverb when I bought that Strat. Nope, had to make do with a Champ. :)

Are those reissues or the real deal?

I hope the real deal....nnnnniiiiiiiiiiiiccccccccceeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

The Strat's the real deal, a late '65 manufactured just before CBS decided they knew how to build guitars better than Leo Fender. The Deluxe Reverb is a Reissue bought just about a year ago. They're an amazing combination.

I don't get my oldest 6 string friend out that often anymore so here are a few more pics.

That's the Ziggies case that came with the guitar.

That closeup shows the natural yellowing of the ABS pick guard. There is also a ding in the guard where someone cheated when they adjusted the truss rod.

My Strat still had the small headstock. It must have been one of the last batch before CBS changed to the larger ones. CBS also added 6 patent numbers to the late '65 Strats' headstocks.

I slung a lot of newspapers to buy that guitar. The prices in the vintage market are crazy high but there's no way I'll ever sell her. :) We have bonded for life.

That guitar brings a tear of joy to my eye... I bet it sounds beautiful.
