When will we see a Mick Mars signature strat?
He's been playing his white Fender exclusively for more than ten years.
It's about time.

You are correct. He plays a couple of them. They all seemingly have the same configuration ... HH with a floyd rose. They had a video on this website of him doing an autograph session for Fender, so - clearly - they are at least talking...

Maybe he wants to keep his stuff a secret. :D I really don't find anything special about his or Motley Crue's sound anyway. He sounds like every other shred guy. He has all kinds of guitars even a chrome kinda looking Tele sort of thing.

I'm completely open minded, I just don't find him all that unique. Who really hasn't been through a lot in their lifetime? I know he has ankylosing spondylitis and is a recovering addict., I feel bad for him about the "AS", I look past all that and call em as I hear em. Sorry if I got you upset.

No, a bunch of people here are missing the point. It is about the guitar ... not Motley Crue. He has a pretty cool setup ... double fat w/ some meaty humbuckers, a Floyd, and who knows what else. A lot of people in these forums see signature guitars as a kind of life-time achievement award, and the inevitable "does he deserve it?". Instead, the question that should be asked: Is the signature configuration cool and worth building?? In this case ... YES.

I agree... signature models should about the unique-ness, and offering something different from the standard built strat with an autograph on it...

Oh, and obviously, a signature model should be about whether or not it will sell... And I think a Mick Mars model would sell!

...and I am not a huge fan, I like his playing, but, own none of Motley's CD s

I respect him for being in Motley Crue and all, but I always thought he was a pretty horrid player. Just average for a pro, nothing more. Don't care for his playing style, tone - nothing's ever impressed me at all about him.

There's still nothing unique about his playing or his severely over processed tone. His sound is like so many others out there. I'd really like to hear him play without all the processing. He might be interesting. Big gain tones don't do anything for me.

I also was never much of a fan of Mick Mars' playing until seeing him play live a few times. The thing I have learned to appreciate about him is that he is not an overly flashy player, playing within a relatively "contained" rhythm-oriented style. I find Mars refreshing in that he is not a shred guy, with solos more geared to melody than mindless speed runs. Also, his trem use is top notch.

Look, I am not his biggest fan, either ... but I tend to agree more with the above post that he is under-rated than the haters...

I don't hate him, I just don't find him under rated.

To me the issue is not just that Mick Mars could sell a lot of guitars, but it would also offer a strat with 2 HB's which is sorely lacking in Fenders lineup.

I think that Motley Crue's sound made available to the consumer would be a great success.

That plus I think that Mick Mars sound is great and very distinctive in modern rock.

Lastly he is not a shredder.

Theres too many singnature models already. Come on marketing people market quality stock made guitars not someones name. Going to run out of names soon or we can at least hope for the Hat full of Names to run out.

Not a good idea anyway. How dumb would it be for Fender to sell yet another "signature model" to appeal to a small crowd of Motley Crue fans, that want to sound like him ON A STRAT? If you're that into him, you'll know what he has on his strat. Just do that same thing yourself and don't expect Fender to make another signature model just so you can say you have it.

I think it would bomb big time.
