Yes they are correct! Sweetwater raised there prices a few days ago so the 30+ percent increase is real not just rumor so look for the others prices to go up as there stock get replenished!

Hi All,
I was just on the Elderly Music site and couldn't believe my eyes. The were asking over $1110 for the Classic Players Series Strats and $1275 for the New American Standard Strats. Is the new Fender price increase I have been hearing about! I checked on the GC and Sam Ash sites and their prices are still the same. Can anyone please verify. Thanks. Here is the link/http://elderly.com/fmic/cats/FGES.htm

Yes, Sad but Its true. :( ... I guess i will not be getting the new tele for a while and as nikininja stated ther is quite a thread on this in the forums lounge.

Elderly has always been known as very expensive. They have a great selection of guitars, but charge premium prices. What are the alternatives...Craigs List, Music Go Round (only in the Detroit area), Guitar Center, Sam Ash (online), etc...

Since Sweetwater et al. have the new Strats priced at $1274.99 (exactly the same price as Elderly), how is Elderly "expensive?"

I saw my Baja Tele now costs $1110. I paid around $750, 2 years ago. Now I wish I had bought the SuperSonic Combo amp I wanted, too.

They all use the same ad prices. I have bought two guitars from Elderly and had them sent to me in the past. They open and inspect and also set them up before they ship them and do a pretty good job of it. There prices where no more then anyone else. Now the few guitars I got from GC and MF arrived and had not even been opened and checked before shipping you could tell.

Agreed. Eldery is a great place to go, they have an outstanding restoration team and repair shop (one of the best anywhere), but they've never been a budget place for tons of people to be swarming in, ready to wheel and deal the lowest prices around. And I don't think they care to be either.

Yep. Just as note though:

- If you want to get some antique instrument restored, find something obscure, test out a ton of stuff, play a number of unique high-end acoustic guitars, or spend an entire day checking out cool things, Elderly is your place.

- If you want to check good prices on things, you're better off with Guitar Center, without a doubt.

BUT, they are more expensive on average. That being said, I agree with the others...they probably know more about guitars than anyone out there.

It's been my experience that most Fender guitars sell for about 30% off of the current list price. Most of the major chains have the exact same sell price. I'm sure that will happen again once the old stock gets sold and things settle down.
