I like to do another one of the shades of Green but now I am thinking orange again because I had the paint but had not used it yet. So I gave it to a friend for cheap and He had showed me the Orange Strat that he did from paint that I sold him He put a heavy tint on the neck with black pick guard, aged knobs and it looks very nice. The Orange was the 1021 when I bought it last year it was a little less money but not much.

Hi cvilleira: let's talk finishing. When you work, do you sand after every coat, or only on the build coats, or... What procedure do you favor?

Cheers - C

I will sand some between coats to build a a deeper look to the finish and when I add the clear coat as well . Just like painting a Car. I buy most of my pait local at the Dupont store in quarts and I have a small air compresser here at the house. Most time when I paint I do it out in the shed and hang the body.

Ah, I don't have a compressor but I am friendly with a fella who has a car body shop round the corner. I can use his facilities, provided I don't outstay my welcome. He can't believe the agonies I go through finishing guitar bodies! He can do about two dozen cars in the time I take to do one guitar!

Ha! I'd intended to talk about that shortly on another thread. I have your MIM stripping project very much in mind - which is why I was looking up those numbers recently. I will be sincerely disappointed if I can't beat that weight difference - but how much by? That'll be the question...

Interestingly, I've just been studying various people's books on finishing: I was astonished to re-read Melvyn Hiscock's well known book and see him talking about doing far more than 20 coats. Golly - that sure as heck ain't what you'd call "thin skin"...

Cheers - C

Unless you do it a lot it is a Pain in the neck time wise. Sprat paint will work just as well. Were most people mess up is over spray or they start or stop the spray while pointing at the body.

Currently the body weighs 1773gramms 3ilbs14oz. As opposed to its previous 1887gramms 4ilbs1oz finished weight.
Im wondering if i should risk another green coat then another ivory before laquer? Its only had 5 light coats so far.

Theres no way I would do 20 coat's of paint 4 to 6 and fine sand between atleast 3 of them depending on the look of the coat then 3 to 5 clear.

Customshop or a smaller local builder. Local builders are quite common if you look for em. I live out in the back of beyond and theres a few round here. They just need unearthing, their too busy carving wood and spraying paint to advertize.
