Not my cup of tea, but very nicely done.

+1 -- Yeah, I would never want that done to any of my guitars. But I think you did a great job.

Yeah each to his own, but this is a trend I can live without. My strat is 25 years old and doesn't look anything like like that, but then I guess I just played music on it and looked after it well ...

Now is the time.
I lost my temper with a body and threw it around the garden in a fit of rage in sept/oct. Im just getting round to finishing it now through excess boredom.

Excellent job! A beautiful guitar too.

Just a hint- put just a dab of dark wood stain on a rag and rub that into the bare wood that you've uncovered (the arm wear). That's a custom shop trick that will make it look a lot older and more authentic.

i love the colors with the blue underneath (or green), but i think it looks kinda cheap. doesn't match the newness of the rest of the guitar. good enthusiasm, but it does appear you took sandpaper to it.

Didnt you notice the saddles or scratchplate wear? Light oxidation and pick marks. The guy wasnt going for excessive wear as per current relics, more something to aid wear at current levels of use. Give it 12 months that guitar's gonna be haggard.

Theres only one way to get wear. However there are things that aid it.

yeah, i saw the saddles (and the pieces of brillo), missed the pickguard. did you see the neckplate that looked like it had a piece of sandpaper taken to it? i understand the idea, and the procedures, and the intent, i just think if we (relic lovers, yes i love relics) played our guitars as hard as we think about how good they'd look all $@!&*% up, they'd be well on their way. trust me, i flipped $@!& when i saw that my p/g screws had rusted! i just think it looks out of place. again, i share the enthusiasm (last week i drug the arm contour across my wood floors for that "floor worn" look), i just think that it's getting a bit out of hand. the whole fascination bit.

Bloody othe.. theres allways the alternate Vegemite too for others down here :) (its like we speak in code) Great job- though personally id buy a used guitar if I wanted a reliced look, but top job mate, well done- looking good

A very true statement. Obviously theres different ways to acheive different results. I'm currently going for more of a closet classic wear on one of my bodies. You wouldnt believe the lengths im going to, to get some nicotine staining without coloured lacquer. Just because the thing will never be exposed to a smokey inviroment again :( .
Metal wear is something i hadnt thought of. Is it fitting for gold hardware to be worn?

Gold hardware wears out and tarnishes in about 5 minutes doesn't it?

Yeah i may just dump the gold in a bucket of vinegar and see what happens. Funnily enough for someone who despises guitars my missus is taking quite a active roll in my project. She'll know what to household substance to use.

Ian sheridan, you are daft or bloody wonkers or whatever U.K. euphemism for doing to this stuff to a guitar. I wouldn't pay extra for this. I wouldn't give Fender any money for a road worn. Call the guys @ Gruhn Guitars for an appraisal.

The word your looking for is 'bonkers'. We tend to use it in discussion of anything slightly whacky, whilst sipping tea on the lawn and nibbling cucumber sandwich's. With the crusts cut off of course. Anything else would be poor form.
