fender bassman was 1200 now 1600

at those prices, ill go with a marshall, atleast itll be a half stack.

you know, i un derstand with this economy prices will vary, but
150- 200- 600 price hikes, there demand will go down.
for the prices of the deluxe and am std.
i may start buying mim, and les pauls.
i had the fender bassman in my sights in about 4 mos. guess what.
not anymore.
hwy 1 strats jumped to 899. :x

First off, I wouldn`t buy a guitar from BestBuy. I doubt their salesman are as knowledgeable about instruments as one in a music store. If you have to pay the new price then pay it where you`ll get better guidance. That said, theres nothing worng with MIM Strats, I have an MIA and MIM and I like both of them.

I like MIM Starts to I have both. The MIM are great guitars for the buck that is 400. and 429. but there new prices seem to be 549. and 579. I think that is what people are questioning the 150 and 170. $ increase. Are other companys raising there price by those kind of amounts? And what others can you get in that 600. area and are they worth looking at now that you have to spend that amount?

A price increase of almost $200 when you add in the tax is kind of high. I guess their dealing with higher productions costs and passing it down to the consumers.

I'm sure the wages went up in Mexico
Fuel prices are on the rise again though. I really don't think a price increase like that is really warranted. You'll see Guitar Center and Sam Ash have blow out sales, just be patient.

Id look around. I've looked at guitar center,(who I wont buy from) and other places, and I havent seen any price increase for the American Strats. Those prices you mentioned for the Am std, and Am Dlx I know is the MSRP price from Fender, but I never seen it actually charged at stores (just Ebay rip offs). I know MIM's have went up though. But like i said, Am Stds are $999 and Am Dlxs were $1200.

Fender is just feeling the blow from the reclining economy. When the economy settles down in a few years, then maybe prices will go down on Fender products. Hopefully.

I'm just going to have a hard time swallowing that I paid $150 less for the same type of MiM Strat the next guy has (just doesn't seem fair, y'know?). :?

I was going to go on a diatribe but I changed my mind. Let's suffice it to say this: For all of us who will pay the increased price, obviously, we feel it is worth it. And when the 'suits' at whatever manufacturer proclaim sales revenue is up, thanks in part to their decision to increase prices, it was we the consumer who reinforced upon them that it was indeed, a good decision.
