I myself am looking for a late '70s Strat preferably a sunburst with maple neck and black pickguard. I've always been leery of "natural" finishes because I can never be sure whether or not they've been stripped and refinished. And speaking plainly, I never thought the natural look was particularly attractive, but certainly that is just my personal preference.

Just an update.
In the evening I had the possibility to see the strat, to touch it, to examine it and to play it a little ....
And probably, I will purchase it....... :D

I know, I know.......
But, one time in the life should be possible to realize a dream.
For me, that kind of strat is a flashback in my life, it remember me when I was too young.

Finally, the "old strat" is in my home.
As soon as possible, I will post an image..... :)

If its in really good (mint or near mint) condition, its probably not too much to pay.

Anything over 25yrs old is generally considered vintage which to a lot of people means its worth more.

I'm always looking (and dreaming) on ebay and often see 70s strats going for 4 or 5000 australian dollars. There's a 'beautiful 79 sunburst currently going for $3949AUD which would'nt be too far off 2000euros.

At the end of the day it's only really worth what YOU are prepared to pay for it. Unless you are buying it in order to sell it again soon at a profit then it shouldn't matter too much if you are paying a high price as long as you are happy with the instrument.

Just my thoughts anyway. Ciao!

Hi guys.....
I have the possibility to buy a '77 strat, with the big palette, natural color, in near mint condition.
The seller ask to me 2000 euros, approx 2500 US dollars.
Do you, experts, think that is a correct price ??
And, the actual worth can increase with the time flow ??
Thanks for your opinions..... :)

If it plays well, then its worth the money- just to contradict the opinion Ive heard late '70s strats are good quality but consistency wasnt the best, hence why I say play it first...

Just to give you an idea on what we pay in NZ for the 70's vintage

walrom, I'm sure you'll be happy with that 77 Strat. I bought one just like it brand new in 1977, flipped it to play left-hand and played many gigs with it. It always played nice and I never had any problems with it. Although I don't play it anymore since I've gotten a couple left-handed Strats. :D Recently I set it back up for righty so if someone stops by and wants to jam, I have a guitar for them to play. Otherwise it just sits in its case.

Well i'm no expert but from the look at it you got yourself a DARN good bargain and she looks very well maintained and very pristine!
Are the p-ups still stock?Any parts modded?
What was the final price if you don't mind me asking walrom?

Well, the only part modded I see is the truss rod nut, but I have the original one.
I think obviously the neck was been refretted, because the frets are about new....not possible for 32 years of life.
For the price, no secrets, I pay about 2000 USD...

Now I will adjust for my prefs....the seller use very heavy strings....
