No, no: guys, this is very serious.

It's not cocoa in its own right, it is specifically high cocoa solid chocolate. Makers such as Cadbury and Mars have been supressing it because their milk chocolate doesn't have a high enough cocoa content.

Belgian and Swiss chocolate are apparently the best of all for fingerboards - which explains why the mass electric guitar industry, so overwhelmingly based in North American and Japan, have been at pains to ignore the development and carry on with old-fashioned timber.

French guitar builders Lag and Vigier are the place to look. Their chocolate fingerboard guitars are works of sheer tone wonder. And the Vigier fretless chocolate S-type is... well, lickable.

Cheers - C

Viger. chocochrome'ocaster. I played one once at a masons convention, a very divine buttery feel to that neck. Sadly it never made it to mass production. I heard Ed Roman was offering the fingerboard mod a few months back, until he got a visit from the big boys (size 54 waist).

Im back around birmingham next week. I may take a trip to the chelmsley wood rainforests to see if i can source a supply.

   That made me laugh out loud! I guess that's a joke that doesn't travel beyond our shores - but very funny!

Maybe this thread should be locked, and then filed under "humor gone horribly, horribly wrong..."

They're only good for stuff like slow blues. I tried some Hendrix on one once and melted all the frets.

That would of been the lighter fluid Chet. You need choco'lite for that kind of stuff. :)

Gosh, do you think?

This stuff does strike people different ways, I guess.

I'm going to bow out now before anyone gets upset and go dunk my head in a bucket of ice.

...With some gin. And tonic. And a slice of lime...

My grand daughter played my Strat after eating a Twix candy bar. The fingerboard AND the neck were nice and chocolaty.
