I recently bought an American Deluxe, tobacco Sunburst Strat, very nice, sounds great but I'm wondering about the rounded edges. I understand that the purpose of the rounded edges is to create the 'worn' effect and give that feel of a neck that has been used. Personally, I would prefer to let the edges wear themselves naturally because I find that the artificially worn edges feel unnatural. What do you think? Mark

I didn't ever think much about it myself until I had the chance years ago to feel an actual worn out neck on an old acoustic, it was a Martin, can't think of the model though, looked like it might've been a D- something, it had deep rolled edges around the first to about the third fret. The owner must've choked the hell out of this thing while playing.

My strat is about 8 years old now and I can notice the edges are starting to get more rounded on the positions I play the most. I don't mind though, it will continue to get more and more comfortable as time goes by.

I like them. It just makes a comfortable guitar even more comfortable. To each his (or her) own.

Every guitar to me is different. I must have played four 50th Anniversary Strats before I found THE one I wanted.

I personally like the Clapton "V" shaped neck the most.

My Clapton and two home built guitars have soft "Vs."
