could anyone suggest a brand of strings for my strat, i use 9's and would like keep it that way. I've used fender regular and super bullets, and ernie ball super slinkies, can anyone recommend any others or shoudl i remain with any of the ones i've used because they sound good, but i like to explore before staying with just one brand.

Have you ever tried pure nickels? I'm using Rotosound now and am really pleased, perhaps a less edgy sound on the bridege p/u it that's the sort of thing you like. Just a bit expensive, though.

Let me tell you that the price of strings these days (xpect the coated ones) are really cheap to buy. I used 9's all the time and the best string is the ones you like~!!! I been checking out string by buying different brands and styles and they all are all good. It just what you want to hear and feel that best with you. If you like Fender Super Bullets then why change unless your a tone chaser and let me tell you that you will never be happy no matter what you use. Buy different sets and style and see for yourself. You'll find out that they are all about the same~!!!!!! :D

well, if you don't like breaking your 9's all the time, buy some d'addario xl-110's. niceeeeee. if you can play 9's, you can play 10's. they're not much bigger, and will last a lot longer i've seen.

Dean Markley Jimi Hendrix Strings are the best for the strat. They are designed particularly for Strats. They have vintage tone and are longer lasting!

I must that within the same gauge I dont see big difference if at all.

Although, I bought these http://store.ernieball.com/product/part ... .0.0.0.0.0 , havent tried them on yet.

They were on sale @ GC but they only had 10's. Anyone tried these EB rocknroll strings? Is that a remake of the old Fender rocknroll strings?

Ive tried many strings on my strat and would recommend The Fender bullet pure nickle. The Roto sound nickles are also excellent

Although Fender Bullets seem like teh obvious choice for a Strat, I wasn't impressed when I tried them... I've come back to D'Addarios - usually 10s, but now I'm trying 9.5s

atolleter: In Heaven, when they play a Strat, it comes strung with those strings.

I havent always put much thought into strings, except that I typically tried to reduce fingertip abuse. So over time I tended to move to lower gauge strings. I might have used Slinky 8s or D'adarios. But Im changing my mind.

I just assembled a new strat that I designed for high tone quality. Strings really affect the tone of the guitar. Thinner strings may be easier to play, but their sound is more "tinny" and more shallow. So I decided to step up to Ernie Ball 11's.

My fingers rebelled. It was very uncomfortable. But Im very impressed with the fullness and richness of the tone. I play a couple hours a day and have built up some serious leather on my fingertips. Now, I dont notice any playability limitations with the heavier strings. In fact, I'd say Im playing them better as they seem to stretch differently.

I'd recommend a very high quality string in as heavy a gauge you can tollerate. I really like my new Ernie Ball 11's.

wow from 8s to 11s thats a big leap. some strong fingers

Dean Markley Blue Steel 10's. I love them on my American Deluxe Strat.
