Nah! He might say Albert King, but I'll say SRV.

I didn't mean to step on your post, but I had to give you an Amen.

I watched some old "Austin City Limits" performances on PBS the other night. It is kinda' sad watching SRV play live. It is like watching a ghost. He was such a good player, and rarely used his pinky finger while he soloed. All that awesome talent in three fingers!! Clapton is much the same way.

Saying that Stevie or Jimi, or Albert, or whoever is the best is like saying that Jordan was the best to a Magic Johnson fan. Magic won a title in his rookie season, Jordan didn't. Magic played center when they had no center, plus he played power forward, and point guard to give other key players a break and let them catch their breath. Jordan did not. Jordan had more MVP's as a guard than any other guard. He has 6 titles to Magics 5. I am not saying that one is better than the other, and I dare say that any of them would honestly hold any one other guitar player above another, but I know that they (all that are mentioned in the above comments) have a compassion for the art, and an appreciation for music that allowed them to reach heights that none of there critics can touch. I am pointing fingers at me only and anyone who dares to jump on a stage and play Voodoo Chile, Little Wing, or any other classic better than Jimi or Stevie. Props to all the greats, I love the new SRV. Thanks to Fender for remembering those who remind us of why we love music, and the bond that it brings. Peace, and blessings, Preach

When I was a kid. I Grew up in a little town in Texas called Brownfield, One day while in my back yard playing my Hagstrom 1 a kid showed up and asked if we could play together, His name was Stevie that is how I met Stevie Ray Vaughn we played many times over the summer then he had to go back home to Dallas and i never saw him again until he hit the big time. Stevie was a great guy

Here is how it is,

Stevie is simply the best. No one will every mach his pin point accuracy combined with pure emotional push. Every one is mayer crazy, let them be. He is a pop musician, not a true blues man. Give him a couple years and then grade him. Eric was the same way; play pop, don't starve, then start playin the blues again. Stevie died when i was three months old, so my love for him has been post-carear too.

But i believe stevie's popularity is rolling in again, exspecially with his new lenny strat. (give it up two custom shop models. yea!) And i think the blues is commin round agian. We just need an incredible leader like stevie was again to bring us round.

So i could talk for hours about stevie but i have to go right an english paper so ive got to go.

Play the Blues, Love the Blues PPL

Stevie brought Blues Music back to the masses.

Thanks to his success, loads of other artists started selling CDs.

It brought quite a few SRV "clones" too, but that wasn't so bad, especially after Stevie left us.

It was a great time when SRV was with us.

For the Longest time I didnt even know who stevie ray vaughn was, I had heard a couple of his songs but for the life of me couldnt tell you who he was or where he came from. After seeing john mayer in concert and truly diving deeper in to his music I found myself surrounded by all of these artists id never heard before, people like buddy guy, hendrix, and SRV. For that reason and that reason alone I found his music and inspiration and Ive come to respect the man for what he truly was and still is.

I will be honest, I had not heard much about Stevie Ray until after he died, I have spoken to Nathan East who played with him on the day he died. My partner at the time saved Nathan's life by offering to let him fly back in his personal plane. At least that is the story as I heard it.

I even recorded some at the studio in Memphis where Stevie played, they still have the glass masters there.

I can tell you, and I do it shamelessly, the kid who introduced me to Stevie Ray was Ben Robinson. He was not doing SRV, but he had been influenced by him at around age nine.

Really, it is the new guys as well as the old, who keep, Jimi, Albert, Stevie and any number of great singers, writers, and players alive for the next generation.

There are clips of him with his Strat. on youtube.

Wow, first time on this forum, and I get to read about the impact Stevie had on so many of us.

Being pretty old and a Dallas native, as well as a few other thing once upon a time. I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with him several times.

As his life progressed, he became not only an inffluence on me as a music lover but as a person as well.

Stevie, your gone but not forgotten

I'm still wondering why nobody has made an SRV movie yet. I think that everybody on this forum that wants it as bad as I do needs to email or contact whomever, like Paramount, and hopefully, the response will be so overwhelming that they'll have no choice but to make the movie. AND, I have the perfect actor... Johnny Depp! Apparently, the man can play like crazy, and he has that aura, you know?

If there were a book, it would help. Interesting about Depp, is he really that good?

He could pull it off, you can never underestimate him. The public would go for him and the story.
