In 1984, I was 12, and visiting my Uncles house. My uncle told my Dad there was a guitar player who could play Voodoo Chile, and it wasn't Hendrix. My Dad disagreed (The exchage was salty). When my uncle finally got the tape cued and pressed play, my Dad agreed (the exchange was salty).
It opened my eyes, I had my first favorite guitar player.
The morning of August 27, 1990, my Dad woke me up with the Five Words, Stevie Ray Vaugan is dead. I'm not sure how many hours passed before I rolled out of bed, but the ski was blue, and the sun was shining bright. I had a fondness for rainy days ever since.

I had the chance to see Stevie and Double trouble play, on his in step tour. I can't put into words how it affected me.

The guy was/is amazing, what he's done for the blues and guitar is nothing short of amazing he's my favorite!!!
but what he did for himself is even more amazing. He climbed out from a personal hell of addiction and cleaned himself up as did Shannon.

He's greatly missed and thought of often, if he was still with us I think we would all be amazed at what he would have accomplished both professionally and personally.

Stevie was a phenom!!! He played cover tunes that were better than the originals. His technique and ability were unreal. Stevie is the reason that I and many others like me, play Strats. Whether anyone likes Blues or that Texas style that Stevie rode to perfection, you have to give the man his props...he was one of the all-time greats. God rest his soul, we miss SRV! See you in heaven Stevie.

OK, here, goes:

Stevie Ray Vaughan died before I was born. My Dad came downstairs one night, looked at me and said, "You're watching Stevie Ray Vaughan tonight." I look quite confused, not knowing who he was.

This next Monday will be seventeen years since he died. My Dad was upset beyond words when it happened. He didn't even think about having his guitar lesson that night... yeah, he was that upset.

Anyway, my point is that Stevie made a big impact on my life and my Dad's life. I think that Stevie Ray was the best guitar player to ever live. His music means a lot to me. But nobody remembers him!

So, remember Stevie Ray, and if you have anything to say, as well, please say it. Thanks so much.

All I want to do is play that guitar. Whether it be the real one or the Custom Shop replica.

Stevie was a great guitar player but he'll be the first to say that
Jimi Hendrix was the best.

I am a 41 year old Bail Bondsman, you know a tuff guy right!

My eyes still water every time I play Stevies cover of Little Wing.

There may be better technical players than SRV but none who poured out their souls as much as he did when he played.

Muddy waters would be close I guess, stevies seemed more spiritual.

Stevie overshadows himself, as well. His amazing Blues prowess and Lighning speed tend to obscure his Songwriting. Songs like Couldn't Stand the Weather, Change it, Wall of Denial, and Tightrope don't fall into any particular genre of music. Slower stuff like Lenny, Riviera Paradise, and Life Without You are Pure Stevie Music. It'll be generations before SRV is fully appreciated.

Nah! He might say Albert King, but I'll say SRV.

And if you askes Jimi, he'd say T-Bone was the best. Little Steve Via's the only guy in the world who would call himself the best.
