Ceri - I'm flabbergasted at what you can do. Really, really something. You should start up a refinish business. But to diverge a little, do you go to any London Blues Jams? I'm always out and about at them at it would be nice to see you at one! Any chance of that?

Hi Echo_Delta: never done it, but it sounds cool...

Meantime, I was in Chris Bryant's in Denmark Street last week. I looked out for you, but you weren't around... On which, do you have a Forum T-shirt yet?

Cheers - C

PS - Hey, I should hasten to add, in case there's any confusion, those lutes are nothing to do with me. Just pix I borrowed off the internet. Though one day...

Hi Ceri

Call me Ed - we've spoken before, I'm the guy that has the same Selmer 222 as you :)

I'll be in Denmark st next week most probably, maybe wednesday?

I don't as yet have a T-shirt as I'm having a tight couple of months on my University budget, I'll be sure to pick one up when I get some dough though :)

On Kingly St. (behind Hamleys on Regent St) they have a very popular Blues Jam at "ain't nothing but a blues bar" on a Monday night. Music at 9, til about 12. It's a brilliant night, extremely recommended.

Come down some time!! I'm the lanky streak with blonde/brown hair.

Hey, get outta here! How are you - we were just saying nice things about you the other day, me and the Doc. Did you see it?

Long time no see: it's very nice to have you around again!

Never seen your brown hair but I distinctly remember the lanky aspect from that vid of yours. Not to mention your nice Hendrix-meets-Matt Schofield technique. I take it you play at these jams?

I'm in Devon right now but I'm back and forth. We'll hook up one place or another for sure!

Cheers man - C

Lol, just spoke to Doc and he filled me in, really appreciate it buddy. I got blocked a while ago because I left it on and my little brother came on and typed swear words on like every post. So irritating.

As for my hair, sometimes it's blonde (the natural way) sometimes it's brown, I mess about with it all the time lol.

I do play at these jams - frequently. Let me introduce you to something I help organise: jam-pact.com.

From that, I have been given the opportunity to jam with some seriously good players. Not A listers, but still worthy of a mention:

Mick Rogers (Manfred Mann's Earth band)
Papa George
TJ Johnson
Alix Live

Among others. They hold a jam also every Monday from 9 at the Royal Oak in Surbiton - my favourite one. It's absolutely brilliant. GET YERSELF DOWN THERE!!

Take it easy, Ed

Hey Ceri,
I just caught this thread of yours and while I haven't read all 18 pages (yet), after reading the initial post, I'm glad you didn't give up on it! Sounds like we were really in pretty similar boats there...although I had a fair idea of what I was getting myself into and mine wasn't nearly as far off as yours was! LOL!!! Just my opinion of course but being able to take something like we both ended up with and being able to turn it into something truly special is a lot more gratifying than just buying it off the shelf.

Anyways, I look forward to seeing some pics of the job once she's finished...we'll have to compare notes one of these days :D. I still have 3 "works in progress" that I've been dragging my feet on, so I'm sure I'll have some more project posts of my own in the new few weeks or so as I get time to work on them.

L8r,
Jim

Hi Jim - yes, I think that's exactly right. You were saying elsewhere that it somehow improves your playing of the instrument knowing it right down to the grain, and I do believe that's true.

Also, on this one the learning experience is a major part of it. After a couple of these episodes timber holds no further terrors, at least as far as guitars are concerned. Ready to give anything a shot from here on in...

Cheers man - C

Ceri is like the guitar-rescuing Jesus.

Carpenter.
Took a sinful, degenerate, damned for Gehenna guitar body...
and made it a new creation. Born again strat. Headed for Heaven.

Word.

Gentlemen - thank you!

I'm out of town for a couple of weeks. When I get back it'll be time to slap that thing together...

Cheers - C

He's probably been invited to the Fender Custom Shop to give demonstrations! Or doing a session with DG on his houseboat. You never know about that man!

Hope he's taking his houseboat to get there.

Hahaha!

My entire experience of Gilmour's houseboat is looking at the outside. But if I ever get to see the inside you can be sure I'll post here about it within seconds. At the top of my voice!

Actually, I've gone to be with my trees for a few days. And do some more sawing - but that's a whole other thread...

Also, I'm spending some time working out how to get together with Ed Mardell in a situation where there's no guitars to hand. Because I have a shrewd idea that fella's whop my behind when it comes to playing!

Oh well...

 - C

Speaking of houseboat? Anyone remember The Ladies Man?
