Ceri, Great work so far, but I'm afraid I'm getting anxious like so many people around here. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE FINISHED PRODUCT!

Sorry you got taken but I have to say I am most impressed by your woodworking abilities. I do wood-working, and probably wood have cut the whole middle section out and Glue up a blank in the middle and started over. It was ugly before you started. Great work. Sure you're not a luthier?

Ceri I just want to say I have the utmost respect. Like someone else said, you were given a lemon and turned it into lemonade. I've assembled guitars before, but what you are doing is so far beyond that, it's to be commended.

I'm pretty new to this forum, but I've read every post in here over the last little bit and I just say, along with everybody else that I greatly look forward to the finished jewel!

Here's a neat trick you might want to use on your neck:

Image

those Japanese are always coming up with something

(I believe that guitar is a "Char" signature model.)

That looks really out of the world....i wonder why the jack input was placed in that manner.Really radical design....

Ceri :: Apart from viewing the neck did i miss anything yet....been busy the past couple of weeks and had not much time to check the Board these days with amounting works/projects...

By drying time you mean financially?

NO, I guess I should have said curing time. Between coats.

Oh good. Then it only takes patience and not a new budget plan.

It's actually a good idea. When I did gigs, I always put the cord through the strap before plugging it into the input jack, to prevent from accidentally stepping on it and unplugging.

By setting the input jack up that way, the cord can go in at the right angle and the chances of having it come unplugged are a lot slimmer.

Hey, yeah?

Well how about this for a neck:

Or this:

Regarding lutes, I once spent some time contemplating how one might build a bowl-back guitar, but using a lute type construction from wood rather than the usual moulded plastic on those guitars. It could be done I think, but getting the back to join the front along the waist of the guitar would be very tricky. I didn't do it!
Image

(That last is Julian Bream's 1967 Rubio Lute, BTW...)

Ceri - I'm flabbergasted at what you can do. Really, really something. You should start up a refinish business. But to diverge a little, do you go to any London Blues Jams? I'm always out and about at them at it would be nice to see you at one! Any chance of that?

Hi Echo_Delta: never done it, but it sounds cool...

Meantime, I was in Chris Bryant's in Denmark Street last week. I looked out for you, but you weren't around... On which, do you have a Forum T-shirt yet?

Cheers - C

PS - Hey, I should hasten to add, in case there's any confusion, those lutes are nothing to do with me. Just pix I borrowed off the internet. Though one day...
