hmm...I was playing my Clapton Strat for about an hour, then picked up my old Epiphone LP for the heck of it, and it actually FELT LIGHTER!
I thought Strats were supposed to be lighter than LP's? Sure, it's an Epi, so it's probably not a single piece of wood, but still...I thought the Strat would weigh less than ANY kind of LP's (and did! until just now).

Gibson do chamber some LP's perhaps epiphone do the same.

Yeah course it does, its all down to the wood and where it was cut from and how old the tree was. Ceri'& co'are the blokes to ask about that stuff.

My idea of lumberjacking is 10 galleons of 5star.

I can see the difference between my Squier Strat and my All-parts Strat, the Squier is almost as heavy as my 85 LP Studio, the All-parts has a Swamp Ash body that makes it much lighter.
That's the beauty of having parts you can switch around until you get the best combination for each guitar.

Can't find what I posted last time we played this game, so I've just been and weighed some guitars again. Here's a few for comparison:

Ash bodied Strat - 8 pounds
Lite Ash Tele - under 7 pounds (that really is Lite for a Tele!)
Les Paul - 8.5 pounds (pretty light for a Paul, too...)
Ash bodied Jazz Bass - 10.5 pounds

Make of that what you will...
