Hi schmintan,

I love a lot the criying blues sound of a Fender Blues tube amp and some screamer overdriver (TSXXX)... it's amazing!! But, because I cannot afford those gadgets, usually play in my room, and enjoying that sound it's very imcompatible with my wife and neibourgh, I've got a Line 6 POD X3 Live... Why?:

I've expended a lot of time researching, listening, googleling, youtubing and finally I've realized that those good sounds requires good (and expesive) material (overall if you want to play several styles). The POD let me simulate the sound of a lot of amps reasonably well. Of course, the sound could be not as good as the original amp and stomps itself, but for me i'ts very fine and let me play connecting the POD to a "PA" (actually to an old and cheap home audio system), to my computers (to record and so on) and to the headphones.

I prefer the use of headphones because, when they are good, you can enjoy of a great sound and volume with not disturb.

NOTE: Because I'm novice, up to now I've not got my POD cry, but for sure I'll try it untill the tears were running down its speackers.

I'm using a Marshall MG15DFX. It's a pretty good amp for when you need a little less sound.

Thats exactly the reason i used a POD for over 80 gigs. Line6 are arguably the market leaders in budget modeling technology.

Thanks Ceri et al.

Unfortunately I dont have a stereo, only a set of small pc speakers. This is why i was asking about cab's for a pod.
I actually used some PC speakers with my POD 2.0 for a while when I lived in a crappy basement suite. it wasn't the best, but it also wasn't the worst solution. I couldn't play very loud, so it offered me a somewhat reasonable sound. I just used an adapter for the jack.

I don't understand this.

There are valve/tube amps that have master volume controls that will give you very good sounds at low volume levels.

Hahaha - we've got you writing "valve/tube" now as well!

As a British guest on an American website with overwhelmingly American usership I try to use American spellings and usages - where I know 'em, at least. Seems only polite. I trust I can be forgiven where I miss a few.

However, once in a blue moon I have a moment of rebellion and call a tube a valve. But immediately I feel all apologetic and add the "/tube" bit on the end, for those as don't know...

I'm sure we don't require the same thing my side of the Atlantic in return, though. Most Britons are multi-lingual as far as guitars are concerned! Still, though not necessary I was charmed when ZZDoc translated "pickguard" into "scratchplate" for me - what a gentleman!

Cheers - C

Today after severe disapointment with my blues jr' i decided to dig my vibrochamp xd out. 5 watts, pre-amp and effects modeling, its valve too. Good range of sounds let down by a boxy sounding speaker, which is a easy change. The main benefit of it over the blues jr is the ability to drive the power amp in a confined space without disturbing too many people.

Well worth considering.

I've got a Fender Frontman 25R, and I bought a used PodXT Live. I'm a beginner, playing in my office, and with those items I can switch from blues to Hendrix to AC/DC to clean pretty simply, depending on my mood. Plus the headphone option straight out of the Pod is a nice way to keep practicing late.

I found the difference between the Frontman 15 and 25 was noticeable, even at low volume, so that's why I went to the 25. I don't go much past 3 on it.
