Has anyone else had trouble with the locking tuners on the am dlx strat? I have trouble with strings slipping out or breaking at the pinch point. Wound strings also come apart from the pressure inside the peg. Today I put a new set on and got the tuning to where it was stable After playing some licks one of my first bends caused the high E to pop right out. I have tried tightening them using different amounts of pressure but it seems to be the same story. I play mostly blues and string up with 11s and 12s. I think my next step will be to install a standard set. The locking set is convenient for string changes but I could really care less how long that takes.

I have the same guitar and have never had a problem. I bend strings like a madman. It sounds like I'm also playing the same strings also - D'Addario Blues .011-.049

When you string up, are you starting the slots at the correct angles?

Check the Strat owners manual (available on-line here). You start the hi-E slot at 12:30, B at 1:00, etc. Since you're not wrapping windings around the post, the angle does matter.

Good luck.

I do go by the fender setup guide that is provided online. I only have troubles with the thicker string sets that require more pressure for tuning. I don't think I have ever had the same issues when using 9s or 10s.

I had similar troubles with my wilkinson locking tuners. The easy answer is to put more winds on them. If you can get one complete wind on the peg it should help a bit.
