I also one other measurement related question, does the nut width have anything to do with the tremolo?

Not within the tolerances of a Strat setup - don't worry about that. But to reiterate, check the six screw spacing.

I've previously posted at tiresome length on that Wilkinson VS 100 conversion and won't bore everyone with it again (unless it's specifically required).

Could you just raise or remove the middle four screws and use the two existing screws?

I must admit, that had never occured to me. The pivot posts have a sort of V incision which keeps the bridge at the set height, where as it's knife edges could slide up and down the shaft of an ordinary screw. And the screws would have to be raised well out of the body to meet the right point on the VS100, which might weaken their hold in the timber.

At least, that's what I'd have thought. But I have certainly not tried it. Also, I wonder if the screws would position the bridge correctly regarding the scale length?

Finding the correct distance along the scale length to drill the post holes was a major part of the issue - bizarrely, not a measurement given on the minimalist instruction sheet. In theory, they should be centered on the outer of the six existing screw holes. In practice it didn't work out like that, in part because of the non-standard positioning of those six screws on a Squier bridge.

Also: I found I needed to route out additional material from inside the block cavity in order to allow for even a little upbend. Again because of the Squier's build specs, I found the trem block was banging on timber when it lay in the "neutral" position. That wasn't just a Squier issue, though: one of the American bods that I installed one of these bridges on also needed a bit of routing of the cavity for clear block movement.

An excellent bridge, for all that, though.

Cheers - C
