I just want to say that I am not into the whole worn-out look in new guitars.

I personally think that the scratches and other marks must be earned; they are battle scars that shows where you've been and what you've done.

This is just my opinion...what does everyone else think.

(It's cool if you like this style, it's just not for me.)

I look at the road worns as a head start to make it easier to add your own battle scars. Nothing wrong with that.

It's not my thing, per se ... but I still think they are pretty cool guitars. My only real negative about them is I think they relic'd the necks a little too much (the fretboard and the back). Still, though, pretty cool. And you gotta love those Tex Mex pickups...

The whole aged/road worn thing is idiotic! Why would anybody pay a pemium for a worn out instrument? If you want a worn instrument play it hard and wear it out! A worn out instrument is only cool if YOU wore it out!

I would rather buy a used Strat, worn out by the pre-owner than buying a new Strat that looks like an old one and costs as much as a new one...

i dont like em, not because of the visual aspects. They just dont play like a £700 guitar should. Despite being set up quite well.

I'd want it because:

1. I wouldn't have to worry about beating it up more. It would just seem the natural thing to do.

2. I like the look.

3. I can't wear my guitars out myself because they're finished in hard plastic, it seems. They just get dented and look yucky. So I'm more reserved when I play them, since I don't want them to look ratty.

4. I can't afford an American Fender with nitro (with the exception of the Hwy 1, which is more in the realm of possibilities). And I for sure can't afford anything from the Custom Shop.

5. And as I said before, I view the factory relicing as a head start.

6. If the price is too high, wait a few years and buy one used. Allot of people with money are buying them now on a whim, when they get tired of it then us broke guitar players will be able to afford them.

whether you like worn/relic'd guitars or not isnt really open to debate its a matter of preference and needs no justification one way or the other. What really needs to be addressed with these guitars is quality/price. I recomend trying one to see if you think their worth the money. I found them to play like a generic mexican guitar, they should be priced accordingly.

A lot of people make the point that if you did not wear it out it doesn't count.. I agree and disagree. I had 9 hours of rehearsals yesterday split between two studios. When I woke up this morning it looked as though my Strat had aged 5 years! Very cool- I will always have those marks to remind me of that hellish day!

But, let's not forget that both Blackie and SRV's #1 were purchased used and had a good amount of wear on them before those guys ever picked them up. I would hardly consider them poseurs!!

Finally, someone else who admits liking them.

I doubt I'd buy one because I don't need another new Strat.
And I already have reliced Strats.

I consider it just another "finish." We all buy guitars that look cool.

I do like the look of a wornin guitar, but dont like the idea of a pre-worn axe.
But hey, as long as it plays nice and the owner likes it that is a good thing.

ESP and AXL are producing lower priced "relic" guitars ... if budget is a concern.

You could always burn off the non-Fender logo and it'd look even cooler!
