Im looking to purchase the Fender USA HSS Stratocaster in 3 tone sunburst in a bout 5 days time...the problem is i cant find any for sale over here in the UK? Whats happening?? Ive checked out dealers over here and no one has it in stock.

One dealer i spoke to said "i cant possibly get a Fender from the USA for you to look at" i said "well how can anyone try them then"..he says "well we dont permit that"...unreal!!

Other companies say 5-7 days for delivery which is great...but surely it would take longer if the Strat is shipped from the US?

Any thoughts guys? if anyone knows who has this guitar in stock please let me know...

I cant wait to get my new Fender but it looks like im going to have to wait a long time....

Hi Fenderibo: where in the country are you? A quick glance at Google finds it absolutely smothered in American Standards. Plenty of sunbursts amongst them.

I'm sure I saw a sunburst in Regent Guitars in Denmark Street just the other day...

An ordered guitar will be coming from Fender UK in Surrey, not being shipped from the US. 5-7 days sounds normal: an authorised Fender dealer might be getting a visit from the rep every week or two, depending.

Let us know roughly where you are for more detailed suggestions...

Cheers - C

Im feeling a lil more hopefull now!

EDIT: Just had a look at Regent guitars and they have 10 in stock!!!! but are around £150 dearer than anyone else..i wonder if they pricematch.

Anymore thoughts would be welcome.

Fenderibo, i'm just 25miles from nottingham in sunny grantham. Music makers in lincoln have them in stock although i dont like that shop or their trading practices. Still you could !@$ in and try one out.
The 'not ordering just so you can try' ethos is normal among british shops these days. Mainly due to internet shopping. I had exactly the same problem when i bought my 57hotrod, i traveled to bolton just to try before buy as they were the nearest stockist that wasnt charging stupid prices.
I strongly recommend harker & howerth of bolton, cracking service, nice setup and all round decent blokes. I took the train from nottingham. 3 hours 1 ipod and 4 cans of stella saw to the boredom.

Niki, did you type a word that begins with an "n" and continues with an "i" and a "p"? A perfectly ordinary and inoffensive English colloquialism, but I've noticed before that the Forum's software doesn't like it - for obvious reasons.

Do Americans talk about "popping in" somewhere instead? Could we say that, or would they not know what we're talking about?

Hey-ho. Two countries divided by a single language, as a famous gentleman once said...

Fenderibo: if you are happy to order and purchase your sunburst sight-unseen then just Google "Fender American Standard Stratocaster" and you will be confronted with more sellers than you know what to do with. I bet I know which half dozen will be the cheapest...

Just be warned by another piece of Niki's experience: check whether said guitar is actually in stock, because he found that some online sellers list instruments they then have to order...

Cheers - C

yeah it was that most offensive of offensive words. were allowed to pop though. Still yep i'd do that with music makers. POP in, try one out and then buy elsewhere.
