Got it! rather misleading name for that contraption but yeah, it seems like a good idea to change that out. this link helped alot.

I'll have to rely on the experience of others to determine what type of nut to use, and as i've said, I have local techs upon which I can rely to do the work properly.

Unfortunately that is true BigJay despite the advantage of the LSR....so careful consideration is necessary.....

To chime in. On any guitar the first things you need are, Fender/Schaller locking tuners, and Fender/Schaller strap locks.

On the topic of the nut, I replaced mine with a bone nut.(Which I filed myself using the old nylon one as a template. This took a few attempts, so not for the timid. i wasted a couple blanks.)

Also when replacing those pickups, (For some reason i think that strat cries out for Custom Shop fat 50's!!) also swap out the white pickguard for mayeb a tortoise shell or an aged one. probably want to go with a different colour accessory kit too, like parchment.

Oh and for our brit buddies, when I build my partsocaster at some point, I am using some volume and tone knobs from Total Guitar magazine, they all go up to 11!!! I'm thinking of painting it plaid.

I have them on my jackson dinky their really cheesy. Now thats a great guitar to mod. sanded down neck, Emg's 18v and a clapton boost on it too. Unfortunatley i cant post pictures of it here because of that guitars explicit content. Its in my myspace pictures with a rr3 and a jh600.

Yeah they're really cheesey, so I need an appropriately cheesey project to use em on. I have had em in the little plastic bubble since the day that issue came out.

Oh I looked at your pics, that is one punk rock guitar, kinda looks like my ibanez with all the stickers.

About a year before i quit the band i was in i made a point of getting a sticker at every gig we played and dumping it on the guitars i was using. Apart from the 'run like blah' sticker which was homemade due to there being no merchandise at the gig from anyone. I still look at that guitar fondly, plenty of memories there.

-Still doing some research on this subject.

- Pup suggestion noted. went and picked up a new white pearl pickgaurd and tremelo cover this afternoon. (still undecided wether to use the tremelo cover or leave the cavity exposed)

Those pups are rather pricey eh?

So given the choice which would you pick?

Ive played on kinman mk2's as i said before im just too tight to shell out £200+ on pickups. I'd have em in a heartbeat if they were priced better, they are a magical pickup. £200 for some bits of plastic and metal with a few magnets seems like some kind of sick joke to me. I know you pay for quality but thats the price of a good practice amp. I've owned cars that cost less.

Agreed! these pups are just less than half of what i rough budgeted for the whole project. I was thinking either texas specials or cs 69's. I guess I could shell out the extra $140 for some kinmans (after all I did say "the ultimate playing experience") but it will take some convincing.
